Cicada Motel

This is a quiet motel back off the main road. The owners (Korean) are both very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are older style, but they are clean, comfortable and quiet and they have everything you need. They tick all the boxes for me.

I have stayed here a couple of times now and for a number of nights in a row. The rooms are very clean and tidy and they were comfortable. The rooms had everything I needed. The plus is that it was well off the road so there was no road noises. You could walk to Kihikihi and its only a few kms to Te Awamutu. Both the owners are very friendly and only too happy to please. The back units are also very safe for children to play in the yard. They even taught me how to say thanks in Korean. I will definately be back to stay the next time I am in the area.

After having a disaster of start with our original booking mistake at another property, we found Cicada Motel. The property is an older style, but the rooms are very clean and well appointed for the price you pay. The lovely hostess was very helpful,friendly and polite.  Would recommend it for the over night traveller.

Great owners and a great stay had here

Another great stay

We needed to be in Te Awamutu for 2 nights. All the other motels were full, so we had very little choice. The Cicada is cheap and clean. If you are looking for comfort, the room is basic. Both ancient chairs in the room were seriously uncomfortable, as was the bed. It was a cold night but the heaters just could not warm up the room. We booked through the AA who do not allow refunds. We had paid for 2 nights but only stayed one night and missed the Saturday evening event we had gone for in the first place. It would be fine for a one night transit stay but it is not a destination motel.

Basic clean accommodation at a budget price

My husband & Father in law head to NZ from Rarotonga every year for the TRADE DAYS in Mystery Creek and stayed here in June 2017 & June 2016 just recently have booked 2x nights for June 2018 only to get a phone call from some one recently saying that they must stay for at last four nights otherwise their booking is not going to accepted I found that very rude and disappointing because now every other accommodation is fully booked out during the time they wish to travel & stay. Really sad to say that this kind of act is unacceptable and We will no longer be recommending your Motel yo any friends and family both in NZ & Raro....Shame on you
