We came for a business trip and our first night out was here in the private grounds. The food and wine was impeccable. We had Marlborough Figs, Cranky Goat cheese, Storm clams, and silver fern farms eye fillet. Beautiful!! 

Great hospitality by our host Michael and chef Elenora.
Great location for wine tours. We even drove into Havelock about 1/2 hour drive for lunch at the Mussel Pot and went on the Green Mussel tour. Very interesting tour because we were right next to a harvesting boat.
Lovely time at the lodge. Barry the owner gave us a private garden tour!

We visited Timara Lodge in February 2017. It's in a beautiful setting, with fabulous gardens/lake and very comfortable room.  The owners and their host Michael are very friendly and the chef Eleonora did everything in their power to make sure we were well fed and looked after.

A wonderful stay with the wonderful hosts at this beautiful property. It was more like staying with good friends than staying in a 'hotel'! The food was excellent and it was nice to see some healthy options such as the home-made kombucha and beet juice for breakfast. 

It would be great if they had a spapool. Also, a yoga / workout pavillion by the lake would be a relatively easy addition (really just a cover in case of inclement weather). My room was well appointed but, possibly due to a lack of balcony, I did not find myself wanting to spend much time in it. However, there is a very pleasant living room (some more books would be good) and a delightful verandah, where I really enjoyed reading and having afternoon tea with homemade scones.

The owners have huge plans for the gardens and property and it's only going to get more and more beautiful. A class act - highly recommended.

We were the only guests at the lodge for a couple of days.  We felt like royalty.  Mike (the host) and Eleanora (the chef) were both wonderful.  They served fantastic wines and the food was fantastic.  We enjoyed walking the grounds which are great.  Convenient to activities in the area.  It is very quiet and the internet connection is not great, but the tranquility is perfect.
