As part of our break in Amsterdam we decided to visit the beach. This was a 30 min train journey from Central station, in high season this is a direct route, in low season there is one change. We went on one of the hottest days so feared the beach would be crowded. Arrived at 10.30 am and there was plenty of sun beds and canopies available. These cost 15eu per day for two beds and canopy. The beach did fill up but there was plenty of room. The North Sea was chilly but welcome and after the initial chill was warm enough to swim in. Could go out quite far in calm shallow waters. Plenty of places to eat and food vans are on the shoreline all day. The resort is clean and well managed and there are play areas for younger children. Apparently it is very lively at night but we left before evening. This was a great day and we plan to return to explore the many other beaches along this coastline.
