very rude front desk service by the older lady with white hair and tan skin. 

the stairs were very long and narrow, and i needed help with my luggage so I called for help. the older woman came out looking very angry and yelled at me, falsely accusing me of being rude. The irony was that she was the one who was disrespectful. I explained to her that I was merely calling for someone to be able to hear me, because the front desk was so high up from the ground floor. She did not bother to hear me out - instead, insisted on her theory that I was a rude millennial. 

Despite already having a booking, she demanded that I either apologise (for something I did not do) to be served or go elsewhere. She had no empathy for a young solo traveler like myself, whose sole mistake was to think I could get basic help of carrying luggage at this place.

Considering that this is a two-star hotel, I didn't expect this level of room cleanness and the availability of shampoo, soap, shower cap, etc. In addition, there is a private shower in the room which is very practical. The shared bathroom was also clean. 

The front-desk lady was extremely kind and helpful, she arranged for my bike to be stored in the shop downstairs for the night. 

The breakfast was very very good with freshly brewed coffee and plenty of choice.  

The rooms can get hot in the supper and the fan doesn't really help.

Very clean Room and welcoming front-desk

i had heavy luggage to bring up the stairs and when i called for help, the front-desk lady (she looked around her mid-60s) claimed i was 'shouting' and thus being rude and told me to leave. i patiently explained that no one in sight was available to help so i projected my voice so someone could hear me. she still refused to help. then when i said i had already paid she DEMANDED an apology since i was supposedly being 'rude'. not only did i have to say sorry once BUT i had to say it THREE times for her to agree to help - i.e to do her job! 

i was appalled when she had the NERVE to tell me to leave and also wait there for three 'sorry's to feel i deserved help. 

this was not my first time in Den Haag and it was extremely disappointing to be treated with the utmost disrespect on my visit back. 

just because this was a budget hotel does NOT mean budget treatment and behavior are ok.

appalling front-desk service

Very good value for money hotel close to the centre of Den Haag. Friendly owner and clean rooms. Nice breakfast. I stayed with my daughter and enjoyed our stay. Rooms are large enough for 3 people. I even had an iron and iron board to iron my shirts. Couldn’t complain of anything. Would definitely recommend it.

Great little hotel in a very nice area of Den Haag

Small hotel in a residential area, but well connected to the city centre. Very close to the museums and in an area well served by shops and restaurants. Access is very difficult (typical narrow and steep stairs).

Excellent location near the Museums

Looking for a cheap accommodation in Scheveningen, we turned our attention to the Staten Hotel. Two stars, we can't expect much from it, but it should go for one night. Free parking is available on the street right in front of the hotel. The hotel is on the first floor and upstairs of a townhouse; upstairs there is a rather narrow and steep staircase, which has a stair lift. Due to a mistake on the part of the hotel, we were given a double room with a delivery bed with a total of 4 beds. And a balcony was also there. Nothing special, something came in, but very clean. The breakfast was okay for years, very tasty and fresh. Everything in a hotel, on the way to the beach again. We would have a little super food on the way to the beach.

Small, family friendly

When we stayed at Staten hotel I spoke to a female guest who's been returning to this place for 25 years. And here's why:

The hotel is right at the end of the "Fred" - the famous shopping Street Frederik Hendriklaan in the Statenquartier of The Hague. The rooms are spacious and clean. Right after our stay all carpets were to be renewed. The owner is a lovely lady, very kind and helpful. Breakfast is worth getting up for. Fried eggs with bacon, cereals, fresh food will give you the boost to tackle the sights of The Hague or (in our case) overcome a hangover. Public transport is 200m from the hotel (line 16 to city centre) as are pubs or little restaurants. Getting to the beach takes  10', and after a 40' walk you're at the Mauritshuis. We highly recommend the place and are looking forward to coming back again. 

Cozy little hotel - home away from home!

There's nothing flashy about this place. Basic, clean, WiFi and a good breakfast, and great price, so who can complain. The charm is the neighbourhood, a residential and commercial mix, bakeries, shoe stores and blues bars. Within walking distance of a museum or two, a streetcar ride to the beach or downtown.

Immerse yourself in a Dutch neighbourhood

Very convenient hotel for those attending an event at the World Forum, as it can be reached by walking 15 minutes and the nearest hotels are very expensive.The hotel is small but clean and located on a shopping street with a lot of day and night life, with easy access to the center by bus or tram.The breakfast is excellent.

The price that a person pays is not far from imagining this tiny kitchenette they call a hotel.At least there is no dirt but if it's an old-fashioned facility and a personal rancio and quite uneducated.
