I booked a dorm room with them, and shortly before the check-in date I received an email that 40 and over are not allowed in the dorms. I am 44 and stay in hostels around the world all the time and have never encountered this. It is the same as other forms of discrimination. I lost my deposit and had to pay for the first night because I could not cancel in time for a full refund. Stay somewhere else! Sparks and Ani and Hakieen in Rotterdam are amazing, and only 25 minutes by train from The Hague.

We were skeptical about staying at a hostel at our age (50+) but was pleasantly surprised. We stayed for 9 nights over Dec 2017 and really enjoyed it.
Very clean rooms and friendly staff. Also great location. Within walking distance to restaurants, shops, train, tram and bus stations

Very impressed

This place works perfectly for a short stay in the Hague. It is well situated, the staff is nice, there's a well-equiped kitchen and you can rent bikes. The breakfast is not expensive and the rooms are quiet. I recommend it!

Very nice stay

Recently stayed here with a group of 6 for a weekend trip to the Hague.

Location is very good with a 10-15 minute walk from Den Haag central station and being central to all the shops, bars and restaurants.

Check in and check out was a painless process and the staff were incredibly friendly, the bar below for breakfast on the morning and drinks at night were a highlight.

Our 6 person bedroom wasn't huge but it's what you can expect from Dutch architecture, it's pretty much the same anywhere you'll stay, but everything was clean and well kept.

Overall if you're looking for a clean, central spot to stay in the Hague on a budget, you can't do much better than this.

The person who checked us in was not the friendliest. She spent most of her time talking to someone else behind the bar during check in. 
Volunteers who were cleaning the hostel were friendly though and willing to have a chat. 

I agree the stairs where steep but as expected for the Netherlands. No issues. 

The bathrooms where compact but modern. The showers would not lock though and there was only a curtain which was a bit unnerving. However, they were never busy when I wanted to use them and where nicer than some other hostels I have stayed in.

My room was above the kitchen. We could hear no noise from the bar but there was a constant noise from the boiler?/air vents? which was annoying. We could here every word and song played in the kitchen which was fine since sensible people were in the hostel at the time. However, this could be your worst nightmare if loud people are staying.

The kitchen was an okay size, but I found that if one group of friends where in there (4-5 people) it was hard for anyone else to squeeze in without it being weird. 

Overall, not bad. The bathrooms where better than people describe but would have been better with a common area that wasn't the kitchen.

Great little hostel just off the main shopping street (5/10mins walk from everything in the centre). Comfortable, fresh beds. It was not full when I was there so no issues with the common amenities but it looked like one shower and one toilet between 16, which could have been a pain if it was full. The staff in the bar downstairs were all great and I was lucky enough to be there on one of the live jazz nights, with a great quartet entertaining us (great way to enjoy the free small beer that comes with booking). Would happily return.

Top hostel

I made a booking on booking.com with non-refundable payment in advance. Upon check-in was informed they could not accept me as I'm over 40 (42). This was not mentioned before payment but evidently mentioned in small print in confirmation email sent AFTER payment. They said they could put me in single room for extra 50 euro. I said just give me refund. They refused. This is a total scam way of doing business.The age limit was not mentioned before payment on booking.com. They should have offered free upgrade. I have requested special consideration for refund which they must surely honour.
