This is the dirtiest, smelliest place I have ever encountered on holiday. On arrival at the apartment we were greeted by the owner who was talking to a builder. He invited the builder into the apartment much to our amusal but we overlooked the situation as we understand people need things done. They stood and talked to each other for around 15 minutes in their own language which was very rude of them indeed. After the owner left we had a good look around the flat and we were disgusted at the state of the place. Firstly the awful smell coming up the main stairway to get to the apartment was an overpowering smell of oil or diesel. It smelled like someone had been stripping car engines. The main seating area was a mish mash of all different pieces of furniture that were broken. The old sofa was standing in he corner with copious amounts of stains on it. The sofa that replaced it was extremely uncomfortable and would have been better suited in a dolls house it was that small. There was what resembled a wooden pallet on the wall that the tv was attached to. The walls were all stained and marked. The curtains had more dust on them than a joiners floor and you could barely see out of the windows they were that dirty. There was a great big stain on the ceiling from what seemed to have been a leak from upstairs. There was a pile of white dust on the floor from what looked like plaster coming away from the wall. There was a massage chair which worked fine but looked like it had never been cleaned since it was put in the apartment. Moving to the next room which was the kitchen, all the cupboard fronts and appliances were stainless steel and were absolutely filthy and dripping with grease. Someone had written vile in the grease on the front of the oven. The cutlery and dishes looked as though they'd never seen water ever in the time they were in the apartment. Needless to say we never ate in the apartment or used any of the utensils. We actually had to go and buy mugs so we could have a coffee. The refrigerator was filthy inside and the door to the freezer was broken so the ice was growing from the inside. The owner had the cheek to show us where the cleaning utensils were kept ( I wonder why ) the bathroom consisted of a sink and toilet and was very small but I know this is common for Dutch properties so wasn't too concerned about this. The bedroom was the next room. The curtains didn't fit the windows properly and were held together with hair clips. We asked the owner to show us where the balcony was, which was in the bedroom so when he pulled back the curtains to show us the door to get out onto the balcony the curtain pole fell down because it wasn't long enough and his way of repairing it was to sellotape it back together. In the bedroom was a wash hand basin with a mirror above it that wasn't attached to the wall and fell over on us a few times. The shower was also in the bedroom which was filthy and covered in limescale, so much so that the water was struggling to get through. The sheets were clean and so was the mattress. There is nothing around for anyone to do so you had to take a thirty minute trip into Rotterdam if you wanted to do anything. My partner didn't feel safe on the streets after dark as all the men would stare and Lear at her which made her feel really uncomfortable. The only reasonable places to eat nearby were a subway and a KFC. If you have booked this place or were thinking about it then seriously reconsider !!!! If I could give this place no marks I would. AVOID AT ALL COSTS AND BOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE
