Guesthouse de Heide

We booked De Heide's Wellness Suite for a mini-honeymoon and well deserved rest after our wedding. After extensive searching (where are all the good rental homes in NL?! Recommendations welcome!), we booked this simply because it looked like the best thing we could find...no city noise, no kids running around and an easy journey without a car...man, I'm SO glad we did! The journey is simple and straight forward and the location is so lovely. Countryside, farms and a few villages and towns within cycling distance. There are bikes and scooters available to rent. The Suite itself was great. Spacious, clean and stocked with all you need for a self catering holiday. There is a sauna, hot tub on your terrace with robes and crocs to use, outdoor dining table and chairs, a games room with indoor dining facilities, pool table, lounge, open fire. The bedroom was possibly the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in! You choose your own breakfast and times on arrival and this is delivered to your suite. We were extremely lucky with the weather while we visited (unfortunate we didn't get much use out of the firewood we bought though!) and this really made for a great, relaxing trip. I would say a couple of tiny changes to this rental would make it 5* for me: a full length mirror (always needed I think!), upgrade the hair dryer (a very 80's number), a nice coffee machine, and I expected a full bottle of champagne with the champagne breakfast given the price difference (we ordered this for the first morning) ... very small changes but I really can't fault anything else.
