Hotel Nes

The hotel is located in a nice village on the isle of Ameland, close to most of the points of interest and well-connected with the ferry terminal and the rest of the isle by bus (besides, it takes about 25 minutes to walk to that very ferry terminal).
The staff was friendly and welcoming. The rooms were alright, albeit I think that they tend to be not very sound-proof. The breakfast was not particularly fancy, however, it did the job. I would think that a bit of broader fruit selection won't hurt.
There're bikes for rent - and they are decently priced, I would recommend booking them with the front-desk personnel.
All in all, we will consider staying here again.

Reasonable choice on Ameland

Not a chain but a family hotel. Very friendly  staff, clean and spacious rooms, spacious bathroom with a good shower, small balcony with seats, the beds were a little bit hard but still good. Breakfast had all the basics and was certainly scrumptious and satisfying.

Cozy, clean hotel relatively close to the boats and beach

Very friendly staff, they are very helpful. Rooms are clean and modern. They arranged a fridge when we asked for it at no extra costs. The hotel lies between the beach and the town. It is very easy to get around.

Nice and friendly staff

We stayed here for two nights over Easter. Basic and very small but modern room and bathroom on the second floor with a nice view towards the dunes (if you ignored the parking lot behind the hotel). Had payed a bit extra for a room with balcony in the newer wing of the hotel, which is recommendable because of the more modern accommodations, but do not expect a lot from the balcony: very narrow, high wooden railing without view while being seated, not really attractive.

As usual in the Netherlands, there were (sadly) two beds instead of one queen or king. The mattresses were too soft for our taste, but that’s a personal thing, of course. 

Maybe we had luck that there were not too many other guests at the same time (and those who were turned out to be considerate), in any case we did not hear much from others and had two surprisingly undisturbed nights, even though our room was next to the terribly squeaky staircase.

Cleanliness was good in principle, yet we found the lid of a toothpaste tube on the floor when we entered the room for the first time. The room was not cleaned for the duration of our stay; towels, toilet rolls, etc. had to be exchanged in self-service from a cart near the reception. The hotel provided another cart with plates and cutlery, which was helpful for the necessary self-catering in corona times.

The breakfast was delivered in a bag to our doorstep each morning (also due to COVID restrictions). It was not overwhelming but okay in choice and quality. Biggest problem was the very limited size of the room which did not allow for a decent table, so we ended up eating our breakfast in uncomfortable positions on the bed, which is far from ideal if rooms are not serviced.

The staff were mostly friendly. We appreciated the good location of the hotel between the nice village of Nes and the beach, with beautiful paths for hiking and biking in the direct vicinity.

Would we come back or recommend this place? Yes, at the right price and without COVID restrictions. The price we paid (100,-/night) would have been acceptable for peak season under regular operations (with room cleaning and breakfast in the restaurant), but it was too high for the level of service during our stay.

Nice but could have been better

Pro:
- Hotel has big rooms we had a room on the ground floor with a balcony 
- Nice shower
- Every morning they put a paper back bag full of breakfast selection in front of your hotel door
- To order dinner they have a wide selection of place to order from, be sure to reserve it on time.

Con:
- No soap was available in the bath room
- Hotel is located next two other big hotels so the view is not very special. Beach and village is 1 km away

Cosy and well equipped hotel

The hotel is located on the northern outlet of Nes, so it is also not very far from the beach. The staff is very friendly. Our room (luxus three-bedroom) was large and had a balcony. Bed comfortable, bath with a large shower. The house was probably recently modernized, ceilings, windows and doors you don't look so good, but that's beside the point!

Good hotel for a short vacation

In November 2019, we decided to choose the Hotel Nes for our weekend trip to Ameland. I was impressed by the affordable price and the good reviews on TripAdvisor and Booking. The hotel confirmed this. The hotel and the rooms looked freshly renovated and accordingly modern. The room was large cut and had a balcony. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet without surprises. However, we found the breakfast recommended quite comfortable. All in all, the hotel is completely recommended and we would return anytime.

Nice hotel with good price ratio

As a couple we stayed here for three nights. Very nice room, very stylishly decorated. Beds are super comfortable and we even had a small balcony. Very nice staff, who have a smile on their face. The breakfast buffet is full of different drinks, bread/bread selection, cereal, cheese, ham, etc. The hotel bar has a TV and you can choose from a wide selection of games. The walk to the center takes less than 10 minutes and the beach is not far away. If you want to spend a few quiet days, you are right here!

In the Hotel Nes

We stayed for a long weekend and had a great time in hotel Nes. Ideally located between the beach and the village. Bicycles are available at the hotel. Family owned and staff were making a real effort to make our stay perfect.

Great family time

We came to Ameland for three days and the stay was really pleasant: everyone was very welcoming, both the family who runs the hotel and the staff. On the island all the information is almost always only in Dutch and German, but at the reception we were given all the information in English.
