Our room was quite dark, we didn’t get much daylight from the window and the lighting was dim. Everything was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. We couldn’t understand why we had a shoe shine kit, small soap and small shampoo but no shower gel? As a couple travelling light we had assumed there would be some supplied. A kettle was in the room with very small cups, suggest taking a couple of mugs with you if you need a nice size drink. Very limited choice and supply of drinks; no English breakfast tea, no decaffeinated coffee available, we appreciate we were in Holland but we thought these facilities would be standard. The only milk was two tiny café crème pots and our supply was not replenished for the second day so we couldn’t have a drink in the room. We had seen pictures of fried eggs and bacon on a website for the hotel but on the first morning there was a very small container with scrambled egg and a small supply of burnt greasy bacon, all of which was stone cold. The next morning we chose continental although I did venture a boiled egg from the container, which was undercooked …  There are no lifts and the stairs are narrow and steep so if you suffer with mobility this hotel is not for you. Overall we had a good night’s sleep but did not feel we had value for money at £250 for a two nights stay.

Disappointed

Arrived to the hotel and was greeted by the front of dest who were really friendly.  The hotel and my room were spotless.  The food was great both in the eveningand the breakfast.  The bar staff really friendly and one night the staff stayed late to accommodate us.  Thank you to all the staff for the great stay.  Will definitely be staying here again.

The hotel has great staff and location. With nice restaurant and cafe. The room are comfortable and fresh but doesnt have a fridge.

Pretty decent and relaxing stay.

So glad that my colleague and I chose this hotel to stay at for our 2 week business trip to Groningen. The staff was amazing ... they did my laundry when I asked about a laundromat! The rooms were small but that is to be expected ... they were comfortable as long as the weather cooperated. We had one hot day and there is no AC in the room ... That was the only issue. The hotel has a restaurant within and it was AMAZING! This hotel is highly recommended!

I was staying at this very nice and personal service hotel for the occasion of a high school reunion.
Rooms are excellent, with air conditioning and are sound proof.
Ample (cosy) bar and restaurant facilities are available and during my stay, our (rather large) group enjoyed two excellent dinners at the hotel. Again, I can not stress  enough the very friendly and personal attention of the staff.
One slight set back is the fact that there is no elevator to the guestrooms on the first floor. However, again the staff immediately helped out and carried without any hesitation my (rather heavy) upstairs.!!
I certainly will stay there again, if and when i will be back in Hoogezand.

Excellent and very friendly hotel and restaurant

Since our last stay about six years ago, they have renovated the bathrooms. The rooms are clean and tidy and the beds comfortable. Very steep steps and no lift. Breakfast simple, but adequate. The restaurants are pretty and we liked the old oak leather chairs in the dining room. Dinner was very good and the staff very friendly. All in all a good stay.

Nice stay

We were in the area and just randomly chose this place to stop and have a bite to eat and a beer. Their lunch time was over but they made an exception for us. Pleasant, friendly service. The restaurant was comfortable and lovely. Our waiter took the time to translate the dutch menu. We chose a ham sandwich with mushroom soup and an unfamiliar dish with russian eggs on potato salad and seafood. Excellent! Such a delicious lunch. It went above our expectations! We enjoyed it very much!

Great lunch!

Had been there several times for a good lunch, as the opportunity came to stay a night. Diner was as good as all the lunches. Dimensions of the rooms are functional. rooms are wel cleaned provided with free wifi and flatscreen.
