Countryhouse De Vlasschure

I stayed here on a cycling trip with friends, and we arrived late evening, greeted by one of the family that runs this Dutch-style B&B. We had two twin rooms that were surprisingly big, with a great wet room for much needed shower. The TV in the corner of the room was old and basic but in the living room (also available for guests to use) there was a new flatscreen with multiple channels, as well as a coffee machine, and cooking facilities etc. There was also a lot of sofas and recliners which were much needed after a long day's cycling. Breakfast was provided by the mum, and included freshly cooked eggs from their chickens, which was awesome. We ate in the conservatory in the garden that backed onto lots of fields etc and had a really nice country feel to it. Their dog and cat strolled round the garden- but never inside the house- and were amusingly inseparable! 'Mum' also gave us some great insider info- as we sat downhearted that our cycling trip might be cancelled because of the torrential rain that yahoo weather predicted, she confidently told us the rain would stop at 9am. Sure enough- 8:55- torrential rain.....9:00 - the rain had stopped. The personal, family touch that you get here makes it the perfect stopover and the people of Wissenkerke we encountered were all really, really friendly.
