Kimpton De Witt Amsterdam

Four observations from our August 2025 five-night stay at the Kimpton De Witt in Amsterdam. First, the staff were amazing. Every interaction with staff was pleasant and supportive - the concierge walked us to our canal cruise departure point because it was off the beaten track, the reception team were warm in their welcome, housekeeping was accommodating, and the breakfast and social hour staff were ever-patient. Second, this hotel made me feel young. Viking Cruises staff seem to be a permanent fixture at the hotel, corraling people before they head off on their river cruises. This meant that there was a continual steam of (largely US) retirees coming through the hotel. This cohort made me feel young by comparison, and reinforced that you should never stand in the way of a retiree when offered free drings in the daily 'social hour'. Third, the hotel's location was super convenient. The central location meant with close proximity to Central Station (3 minutes by foot), and a tramstop outside the hotel. This was a great launching pad for our Amsterdam time and also the train and tram trips to places outside the central city. Fourth, bring your own toilet paper. Rough would be an understatement.
