Tivoli Doelen Amsterdam Hotel

We booked 3 x rooms for a special family reunion at this hotel - we were en-route to Thailand and our eldest son and girlfriend were on their way home after travelling around South America during a gap year. It is a beautiful historic building and from the moment we stepped into the welcoming lobby, every detail felt personalised. We were given the warmest welcome and offered refreshing drinks as we checked-in and our room was upgraded from a canal view to one with a balcony - wow what a view and to be able to sit outside at night and enjoy the amazing view. The rooms were beautiful with the comfiest beds and the bathroom with the fluffiest towels and complimentary high end toiletries. Breakfast was superb and well worth the additional cost. Despite its wonderful central location right on the canal, the Tivoli feels like a luxurious peaceful retreat after an exciting day of sightseeing in Amsterdam. Every day guests are invited to a free happy hour drink and beautifully presented appetizers in the bar/restaurant - we loved this time and it’s well worth it if you can arrange your itinerary to accommodate it. All of the staff are exceptional and go over and above but a special thank you to Maurice was on hand throughout our stay giving us local tips, helping luggage, and umbrellas with genuine warmth, Saarah (not sure on spelling) was always smiley and attentive during breakfast each day. A huge thank you to Teresa (assistant manager of the front office) who saved the day by sending on our son's Holland shirt that arrived late - we were on our way to Thailand so Teresa very kindly offered to look after it and send it on to us on our return to the UK. As cliché as it sounds, Tivoli Hotel Amsterdam is more than a place to stay — it’s our new home from home in Amsterdam. Luxurious and welcoming where every single member of staff excels with the highest level of service and genuine hospitality. We would stay again in a heartbeat and can’t wait to return
