Elbrus Home is truely a home away from home! An oasis within bustling Kathmandu that truely makes you feel like you are in a forest retreat! 

Stunning hostel with beautiful rooftop patio, gorgeous garden and stunning airy rooms overlooking all the colours of Kathmandu! 
The owner is absolutely lovely, and gives the place such a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for travellers from all over the world! Super yummy breakfast provided that I looked forward to every morning - and the staff go out of their way to make sure you always feel at home and looked after! 

The best place you can stay in Kathmandu for sure! 
Will be back anytime I visit Nepal again!

Stunning homely oasis within Kathmandu! 

As the name suggests, this place is really a home away from home. Khem and the team running Elbrus home made me feel so welcome from the moment i arrived. Assisting me in any way they can. Lovely hot shower, clean & comfortable room with beautiful views. The garden area has comfortable seating, lots of wildlife and a friendly chicken roaming freely there for the past 8 years! Filtered water is provided for free and there are lots of great cafes and restaurants nearby. Breakfast is simple and wholesome, given in a timely manner and can accommodate vegan and vegetarian diets. Great location, away from the main busy street but close enough to walk to many shops and cafes in the centre. Could not recommend this place more for your stay in Nepal. Thankyou to the team at Elbrus Home, i hope to see you again soon. 

A home away from home

Really lovely and homely hostel with spacious and calm dorms and rooftops which are a nice getaway from the hustle of Kathmandu. The warm showers and free breakfast are of course an added bonus and the owner Khem is very helpful and amicable!

Elbrus homely!

I’m so glad I decided to stay here! The beds are very comfortable with nice linens and real duvets, the balconies and courtyard are wonderful, great free breakfast, and the owner Khem is amazing!!! I got sick while I was in Nepal and he drove me to the hospital, called the doctor the following day to make sure I was okay, and made sure I was okay. The kindest man that made me feel like the hostel was home. 

Great hostel!

It was lovely here, and I would stay again. It’s not perfect, but you get so much more than what you pay for. Breakfast is included—mango juice (not fresh squeezed, but the mangos here taste like chemicals anyway), tea/coffee, two eggs any style, two pieces of toast with butter/honey/jam, and a banana. I’m not really a fan of eggs and asked if they had oatmeal. They did not. One day I chose to not have any breakfast, and so I asked for a banana on my way out. The man working there asked how many (!) and I took 2. There’s a beautiful little courtyard with green grass and fun, nice seats. There are also common spaces with tv and some books inside, but they didn’t seem occupied.

I stayed here with 3 friends for 5 days. The rooms were clean, towels were provided, there were fans, and there was hot water. Some of the faucets were a little leaky, and only one electrical outlet in my bedroom (I was sharing with one other person) worked/fit for the plug I had (which is a standard 3 prong plug). None of these things caused any troubles for us. Elbrus Home didn’t have a 2-twin room available for me and the friend I was rooming with, so they gave us a free upgrade to a queen+twin room (and guess who got the queen bed😎). The room was also next to our friends’ room.

There were always people working at the hostel at every hour of the night, and the people who work here were awesome. They provide free bag storage, and are accommodating overall. 

Finally, the location. It’s located about a 5 minute walk from Thamel, the tourist neighborhood of Kathmandu. I personally would have rather just stayed in Thamel (because I’m a little lazy and don’t want to walk a simple 5 minutes), but for this price and quality I would stay here every time. Thamel is cute, with lots of shops and tasty restaurants, and I’m happy we stayed near this neighborhood. It’s a cheap taxi ride to the other neighborhoods of Kathmandu. I’m here in Kathmandu for about 9 days, and I’m happy to have spent 5 of those days in Thamel. Now, I’m staying at a more expensive hotel in Patan to explore more of a new area.

Everything you could want for the price!

We stayed here for twelve days and are very pleased with our stay!  We are very satisfied with the cleaning, staff, breakfast and the extra service. The people who work here are very nice and helpful with everything, from recommendations for hiking and transport.

Elbrus home is awesome, the staff is really helpful for advices or anything really, the place is clean, the breakfast are good, it's a beautiful place and really well placed. It is also really easy to meet new people in this hostel. Overall really good experience.

Beautiful hostel in Kathmandu 

Elbrus Home is colorful, cheerful, and great value for the money! The location is in easy walking distance to shops and restaurants in Thamel. Rooms are clean, beds are comfy, and the omelette and mango juice breakfast out in the garden are a great start to the day! Best of all, Khem, the owner, is extremely friendly and helpful! I enjoyed my stay so much that I booked another night at Elbrus Home on my way back through Kathmandu!

Great value in Kathmandu

I've stayed at this place off and on for a few years.   It's a good choice for Kathmandu.  I like the garden area where you can sit and escape the chaos of the city. The upper rooms have good views.  There is  always hot water and the rooms are clean  A nice breakfast is included in the room rate. 

Good choice for Kathmandu

I stayed at the hostel for 2 nights and was very happy about it. The staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and colorful and the breakfast is perfectly fine in case you don’t want to enjoy it out in the city. Peaceful outdoor garden and terraces to stay in as a break from the hectic streets from outside. ☺️
