It's been a year since I stayed in Wai Wai's Place for two months during the summer, and I miss it every day - which speaks a lot about how wonderful the place is. From the lovely staff members that I've bonded with like my family, to the aesthetic rooftop and homey, delicious food that I was lucky enough to go home to after each day of work, Wai Wai's Place was part and parcel of the best two months I have experienced in my life so far. 

While it's true that it's not the most luxurious accommodation out there, it doesn't have to be. The attentive staff members (each of whom also has inspiring stories to share) would be beyond obliged to cater to your needs anyway. The room was indeed too dim as another reviewer mentioned, so I asked them to install more lights for me and they did - everything turned out perfect. Initially, I was badly bitten by mosquitoes so I couldn't sleep at all. They set up the only mosquito net they had for me (the locals were so used to them that they didn't need it). The rooftop was also provided with sufficient mosquito spray whenever I spent my time there. When a friend got sick, they even took us to the doctor. There were just so many precious moments that I can't include all of them here.

Speaking of the rooftop, it was what made my stay there so unforgettable. I met so many interesting travellers from all walks of life, played music with everyone, learnt Burmese dance from the lovely staff members and even did a bit of casual waitressing - that's how close I could become with the staff members and visitors. We even hung out on the weekends and played football with the children every day after school. Occasionally I would go grocery shopping with them for the rooftop restaurant, or chill with some of the staff at City Express the convenient store.

Living there means being surrounded by kind-hearted, genuine and inspiring people every day that makes you a better person, and I grew so much during the two months when I was there. My journey in Myanmar was filled with joy, tears, heartbreak and inspiration, but Wai Wai's Place was always the safe haven for me no matter what. I can't wait to go back after this entire coronavirus crisis.

The heart-warming home of my summer

When you come to yangon, you must visit Wai Wai's Place. This Bed & Breakfest hotel is heaven on earth. Clean rooms, delicious food and a staff to fall in love with. Wai Wai is a lovely woman who makes your stay an experience. Her son Charly is a child to love. As a guest, you feel at home with the family. Anyone who has been here will definitely come back. - i miss this place ! - with warmest regards - your Fritz

The heaven in yangon !

Wai wai is located in a walking distance to shwedagon Pagoda and outside the noisy and busy downtown. There are plenty busses stopping near the hotel, allowing easy and cheap access to all sightseeing spots around town. The area has lots of eateries and shops to buy SIM cards, etc.
The hotel staff was very kind and tried to accommodate any requests. The breakfast was the best we had during our trip through Myanmar.

Unfortunately the room is dark and mosquitoes kept entering the room at night. The windows seem not to close properly. It was very annoying. We got bit a lot and we couldn't find the mosquitoes due to bad lighting. Bad sleep.

Great price, kind staff, and good location.

Really nice food and very nice guesthouse. The staff and Wai Wai are very lovely and are doing a super Job. We spent there a few nights. Rooms were simple. Breakfast was super nice on the rooftop. They moved the place to another address, sure it will be as good as before. All the best.

Perfect Food, perfect Place

Wai Wai turned out to be a little oasis in Yangon. The Reception was spacious, clean, organised and welcoming. The Rooftop eating area was cozy and afforded a limited ariel view of the neighbourhood. Staff were obviously well-trained, courteous, helpful and full of warm smiles. Although the single room was plain, it still had essentials- a desk, luggage and clothing racks. The bed was clean and comfortable. 

Wonderful Wai Wai

Wai Wai's place is a great little spot in an excellent location. The rooms have everything they need including good air conditioning. The breakfast is very very good and during the day and evenings the top floor transforms into a really nice lunch and dinner spot eith delicious and very reasonably priced food. Wai Wai even does a cooking class which was one of the highlights of our trip and I highly recommend doing this. It was also nice and quiet and would be suitable for families. Wai Wai and her team always made us feel welcome and comfortable and we will definitely be visiting again and would highly recommend to anyone looking for good rooms, food, hospitality and local knowledge.

I'm so grateful to have stayed at Wai Wai's place. The staff is so friendly and helpful. As my bag had been stolen, they helped me so much to have access to Internet, to catch a taxi or to make photos for my new passport. 
I realy enjoyed my stay at Wai Wai's, very quiet, in a nice neighborhood. The restaurant on the roof top is very good. I highly recomment it.

A home far from home

I've stayed at Wai Wais a few times. I always feel welcome, there are so many people willing to be helpful, the rooms are basic but always very clean and there's a great little restaurant on the open rooftop with good food and great service. It's perfectly located in Sanchaung, the middle of one of the most vibrant market areas of Yangon. Having lived in Yangon for 2 years I always feel that Sanchaung is one of the most interesting locations around. Note that there are only stairs, no lift if you have problems climbing. 

Perfect for budget travel (perfect location, friendly staff, very clean, great food)

A friend and I stayed at Wai Wai's Place at the beginning and end of our trip to Myanmar. We enjoyed the free breakfast and other meals that were served in the restaurant on the top floor. The staff answered all our questions and arranged for transportation to and from the airport. If we ever return to Myanmar we would stay here again. Thanks!

Clean, quiet, friendly staff

The location of the hotel is brilliant, very close to many attractions. The roof-top restaurant has a good menu and great service. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful with booking taxis. Highly recommended place in Yangon, especially if on a budget as the hotel is value for money.
