Location-wise this glorified guesthouse cannot be beat - it is absolutely central, being smack bang in the heart of Yangon's old colonial centre. Most of the main downtown sights, from the High Court and the Central Post Office to Chinatown and the synagogue, are all within walking distance. For added colour it may be worth noting that the city's weekend chess club congregates nearby at the junction next door.

Willow Inn also has a lot character going for it - where else in Yangon are you going to find a pillared balcony overlooking one of the main thoroughfares for a breakfast and lounge area? 

The manager is incredibly helpful in negotiating cab prices and recommending restaurants, while the staff were indefatigably polite and eager to help, even if sometimes their English fail them. 

Rooms are spartan and clean, though not particularly insect-proof (this I have found to be the norm in mid-range establishments throughout Myanmar). If going for the one with the ensuite bathroom be sure to have both doors closed, as the ventilator above the toilet lacks a netting to keep the mosquitoes out.

My go-to place in Yangon

The entrance to this building looked like an opium den: dark, dank, and dirty. Fortunately things improve once you climb the steps to the BnB. My room was nice enough, and clean, but close to the reception area and *extremely* noisy until late at night. Upon checkout I was charged a considerable amount more and it took a while to straighten that out - they claimed that the extra night I had booked (in advance) was more expensive than the first 2 nights (which makes no sense and they had *not* informed me of that when I requested the third night). I got a partial refund but still ended up paying more than I should have. I'd give this 2 out of 5 stars.

Don't let the listing photo fool you

In a city where accommodations are oddly expensive, the Willow Inn is a find. Ignore the shabby entrance (or appreciate it, as I did) and climb one flight of stairs to a refuge from the city. The lobby is decorated in classic Burmese decor. The staff could not be friendlier and the rooms are perfectly fine for what you're paying. Shared bathrooms work well and are always clean. The free breakfast is substantial and the location is very central. Wifi is spotty but that's typical Myanmar. A great budget option, I'm glad I stayed here.

Fantastic option in Yangon

We really loved this cheap and cheerful guest house, the location is perfect and the staff are so nice. It's Clean, friendly and excellent value for budget conscious travelers. We didn't sample the breakfast but there are lots of places near by to eat. The staff are extremely helpful regarding any questions you may have about Yangon or places to visit. 

Excellent !

Good location for exploring downtown, close to Sule Paya in an interesting, reasonably walkable area. Friendly staff. But: one AC was not working (ran for half an hour then quit, so you have to get up to hit the reset button hourly), nor was the TV, nor telephone--bad because taxi drivers may not know the place and need to call for directions.  There are no windows, though effort is made to let light in from the corridors etc. Breakfast is bout at a local shop and may be late.
