Garden Hotel

I only stayed here for about 10 hours because I did not want to spend 25 for a full day at my other hotel when I wanted to catch the 4 am Mandalay-Lashio train. I paid 8 dollars for a double room on the fifth floor. There are no lifts so it requires a long walk up the stairs. Rooms are basic, a little dated but very clean. I also noticed the cleaning lady making rounds regularly while I was resting during the afternoon and later in the evening. Bathrooms were also very clean, hot water ran better than at my more expensive hotel. Views were also a lot better from this hotel. There is the occasional smell of cigarette smoke along the hallways but other than that it seemed like a nice, clean place. When I left for the train station at 1am, it was raining really hard, really pouring and without any signs of going away (which it didn't for another few hours). Luckily for me the night shift guy, who I had to wake up to unlock the doors handed me an umbrella without knowing if I would return it or not (I eventually did when I came back), totally saved me from getting drenched as I had left my heavy rain gear in my luggage back at the hotel.
