Stayed 3 nights at K35,800 a night. Spacious room with double bed and attached bathroom. TV, mini fridge and air-conditioning. Bed comfortable enough although pillows a little on the hard side. Bathroom functional and roomy and whilst water was hot the pressure wasn't great unless you hand held the shower hose. K2,000 in tuk tuk from the bus station. You are a fair walk away from the riverfront (20 minutes plus and hilly ) so worth spending K1,000 to jump on the back off a motor bike taxi (5 minutes). Woken by a knock on the door at 7.30am the first morning for breakfast which was sitting on the table and cold when I ventured down at 8.30am. Much better breakfast and good coffee on offer at the My City Cafe on The Strand. The older lady at reception had reasonable English, was very helpful, and seemed to know everything you might need to know. Wifi was either pretty good or very bad and disappeared on occasions a la Myanmar in general. Rooms fairly basic and dated but if you want a bed, hot water and wifi (ask to have it rebooted if it stops) without paying well over the odds then this isn't a bad alternative depending on what price you can get it at. There are I think 60 odd rooms spread over different buildings and by the looks of it they seem to be pretty busy and well patronised by local business travellers. They can also arrange a share car to Myawaddy for K10,000 which takes just under 4 hours with a 7.00am departure.
