I visited this lodge in September 2016 while backpacking through Africa and have been meaning to write a review ever since.  It's a great place. 

I came here solo for a few nights and Jerry and Leticia were so welcoming and lovely and treated me like one of their family. Jerry picks you up at the airport and takes you to the island via boat which feels like a great adventure.  

The island is beautiful and feels untouched.  Lots of great walks.  

Jerry took me scuba diving and it was one of the highlights of my year.  He is a really great teacher and makes you feel confident.  You see some amazing wildlife.

Beautiful Location, Lovely Hosts

We enjoyed our stay at the Arti Lodge very much! Our bungalow was huge with another bed and a lot of additional space, the bathroom was nice and all very clean and in front there was a terrace - very charming. There was even a private platform with two lounger and a hammock with a beautiful view over Pemba bay. The garden is beautiful and nicely decorated! The food was very good (big portions!), the staff very friendly and helpful. We were mainly there for the diving (nice dive sites with really great coral reefs!), but also enjoyed kayaking which is for free! Letitia and Riaan are very friendly and supportive hosts! They took care of us and helped us wherever they could!! It was a pleasure to get to know them! Wifi available at the restaurant area in the evening, electricity and hot shower too.

We only did a day trip but the hosts were so lovely. It is like the Eco Lodges we have stayed at in other places, power only for a short time in the evenings, no wifi, warm showers but secluded, quiet and peaceful and a real break.

The snacks and lunch provided was too good, i really want that chocolate mousse recipe, one of the best i have had, and I can believe it was in Pemba!  We had use of a room for our day and it was good, nice bed, sun lounges on the verandah, our own waterside hut with more sun lounges and a hammock.

The snorkelling was really good too, couldnt believe we were out for 1.5 hours, felt like 10 minutes. The boat ride over and back was good and safe.

You need to advertise the snorkelling day trip in the hotels around as we only came across you by accident. So glad we did, would actually stay next time.

Beautiful, a special place

Very exotic to get to the lodge by boat, beautiful part of Pemba. Very friendly hosts. Leticia's cooking is excellent! good snorkeling! In such hot weather, it would be appreciated if the room fans can work in the day at least :) -can be a little challenging for very young children...There are some costs e.g. transfer to beach - clarify before so one can budget.. Thanks for the warmth!

Adventure awaits!

Any one staying here will feel at home. It's incredibly peaceful and the hosts are two of the kindest most generous people I have ever met. The food was better than a five star restaurant.  I recommend to go snorkeling and diving if at all possible.
