Isabel met us where the taxi dropped us at the Bab Doukala mosque and guided us the few minutes walk to her beautifully renovated riad, built around a courtyard with fountain. Our room was lovely, comfortable beds, great bathroom, huge bowl of roses, everything one could wish. Breakfast was a highlight, eaten in a beautifully decorated dining room, and different every day, but always with eggs, different fruits, home made yoghurt, different types of homemade local cakes and breads, fresh juice. The riad is situated in an interesting residential area within the Medina, about 15 minutes walk from the main square in one direction and about 20 minutes walk from the new town in the other. Isabel gave us a map, pointed out landmarks and recommended restaurants and we enjoyed exploring the old city. We never got too lost with the help of a compass ap on the i-phone and it was nowhere near as hassley as I had expected and felt safe and friendly.
