Very good
78 reviewsI wrote the awful experience I had in the first riad we stayed in the night before we got to this haven of piece (by contrast, this place was home away from home). read it an you will undertstand. This is a case of between Very Good and Excellent. They have little aspects to improve, but they tend to be more towards the Excellent than to the Very Good side, so, I gave it the best possible rate. We booked this place out of an emergency a couple of hours before getting there. We (me and family) were in Marrakech since the night before, but we had the worst experience and ended up fleeing that creepy hole in the wall and we found my miracle this awesome place. When we got there, we found Nisa, the hostess of the place during the day, all smiles and happy eyes, welcoming us warm and making us feel ike home in the very first couple of minutes. TBH i was traumatized from the night before and covered in bed bug bites from the previous riad, so, I did not know what to expect. But we found this simple beautiful Moroccan house with a charm that would outlive my trauma for sure. Nisa checked us in and we went to our room. First thing I did was to check if there were any bugs, and since I had told her about what happened, she assured me everything was clean and told me how important it is for the Riad´s administration to keep things up to a standard, especially since they are a very popular option among the cascade of Riad options in Marrakech. The So Chic name is not just a brag, they truly are a chic way to stay in town, in a low profile sorta way, of course. We got there and didn´t want to leave really, having mint tea by the small pool at the center of the patio was so relaxing and felt like a safe place, and especially because I felt awful covered in hives from the bites the bed bugs from the previous riad gave me. But anyway we decided to leave the place to walk around Jemaa El Fna square and the Koutoubia gardens and mosque, I realized how close Riad So Chic is from the square and the souks. Truly convenient location. In the evening I felt a little worst from the rash (I was actually a little swollen in general. Please read my other revios of the awful riad we stayed in the night before) and they gave me all directions to go to the hospital. Nisa wasn´t there anymore at that time of night (around 9:30 or 10 pm), but my mom, my sister and I, got to the hospital very easely thanks to the guy that was in charge of the Riad at night. I came back feeling a little better after a shot of hydro cortisone and 20 minutes of oxygen and went to bed. I slept like an angel compared to the previous night. I could rest and although still itchy, my rash was a lot better in terms of swollenness, so, a hygienic matress and really clean white sheets were perfect to make me feel a little safer and a lot better. The morning came and we were all hungry and ready to start the day. We showered and got out to the patio. All tables were set up and we had ours right next to our room´s door. The food came out and everything was so good and generous. Mint Moroccan tea, coffee, milk, hard boiled eggs, bread, some sort of pancake and obviously jam, honey, butter and sugar, we stuffed our faces, brushed our teeth and left the place. In the afternoon we were back and Nisa served some tea and cookies and my little nephews got into the little swimming pool, the rest of us sat by the water talking and enjoying the calm and tranquility of this place; a truly oasis in a sea of rushed people and hecticness. We went out again to see the Majorelle garden and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum (please visit this places, consider them highly recommended) and when we were back, the place looked even better at night. So quiet, warm and welcoming. It truly felt like home. Next morning was our last one and they served their generous breakfast. We relaxed for a little while, checked out and left Marrakech with a better impression than the one we all had the first few hours we were there. All thanks to this beautifully done riad, ran by this kind and warm lady named Nisa during the day. She truly made us feel like family and we said good bye hugging and taking pictures. If I ever come back to Marrakech, it will probably be because of the memory of relief and embrace this place caused in me.
