 As a group of 4 adults and 3 children we had a fantastic stay in the Maison Oufala Riad.  The place was spotless and very comfortable.  The family who run the Riad could not have been more helpful and the breakfast was delicious.  I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

We stayed three nights and were very happy. The most difficult part was to find the place, but already here the host did a great job.
We can recommend this place for everybody who likes quite and nice places for a reasonable price. This is what you will get. Things like free parking, WIFI, very nice host family add to the value of this place

Maison Oufala is a family house. I stayed for 4 days, with my family, at Maison Oufala and we had a great time there. Younes, the owner, was such a great guy and provided notorious hospitality. Some who are in doubt about the distance from the city center, it definitely is worth. Medina is interesting to visit but not to stay.

Younes, Was a great host, we were late arriving after getting through customs and picking up our car. Younes had offered us an airport transfer but we chose to drive, That was a buzz. We could not find the hotel because my maps were a couple of years out of date. We rang Younes and even though he was only two days married and had all his new wife's family at the hotel he came out straight away to lead us back. We were then asked to join them for tea and cakes. What can I say the rooms were modern clean and the bed was vast, Aircon was very effective and the top floor veranda and guest lounge were the best place to start and finish our busy days. The breakfast was epic and his family were relaxed and welcoming. I will be back. There are a few shops and food places within walking distance and if they don't look fantastic I can assure you the food is excellent and cheap. Thanks Younes

Back in Marrakech but with our wives this time!

Great place to stay

My experience at the Maison Oufela has to be one of the worst ever on holiday and I am well-travelled. Younas verbally abused me on my arrival, I was almost left homeless in a foreign city due to his greediness and looked to try and come home early from what I thought would be a trip of a lifetime turning into a complete nightmare. My awful experience began prior to my arrival in Marrakesh where I received a number of harassing phone calls from Younas insisting that we pay him to come and pick us up from the airport. A bit flummoxed and taken aback, as I have NEVER encountered such before, I stated that if we needed his services we would let him know. We arrived at the airport and found a taxi who agreed to take us to the hotel for half the price that he had quoted so decided to use them. However, the directions and info we had been given, as to the location of the hotel was incorrect and no one, not the taxi driver, or the millions of people he asked on our tortuous journey, could direct him. We called and texted Younas many times to get help but he did not answer or reply. By some miracle, over an hour after we left the airport, we finally found the place but then spent another 15 minutes outside banging on the door and calling his number to be let in. Understandably, after this experience, we weren’t in the best of moods. So when he finally opened the door we stated that we had had difficulty in contacting him, finding the hotel and were not impressed. His response was to shout abuse at us, his customers, stating that we should have taken up his offer to pick us up from the airport. I had suspected that perhaps he was ignoring us because we had not used his service and his behaviour at the door confirmed this. Exhausted and in need of sleep we decided to ignore this and go to our rooms. Here was the next hurdle. I had specifically asked for a quiet room away from any smoking areas when booking my accommodation. My room was right next to smoking area of the patio and overlooked a building site which I found out when I was woken up at 6am the next morning! I mentioned this to Younas over breakfast and asked if it would be possible to please be moved to another room, he refused saying he was fully booked. I decided then to raise this with Booking.com, who I had booked this accommodation with, to see if they could assist me with finding somewhere else to stay as I had come for a relaxing break and, so far, my stay at Maison Oufela, had been anything but! Booking.com contacted him to let him know how I felt and we had a conversation. During it I clearly stated that whilst I was thinking of leaving I would confirm this later on that day. Me and my friend left the accommodation, met up with the rest of our friends, and I also had a quick look around for an alternate place to stay. I had not found anywhere else, as it was high season and places were booked, when I was making my way back that evening so decided to just grit my teeth and bare the rest of my holiday. Younas had other ideas. I received a text – so he could textwhen he felt like it! - telling me that my room had been given to someone else and to collect my stuff ASAP so that he could clear it before they arrived that evening! I was not only shocked but fuming at his treatment. Frustrated that my holiday, so far, had been a complete and utter nightmare I broke down in tears in the reception – Younas could not give a crap. My friend, seeing my distress, spoke to him and asked him if there was any alternate places I could stay at his hotel. There was a place, which was odd as only that morning he had been fully booked, but I would have to pay more for this room than the one I had initially booked! I agreed to this only so that I could sleep somewhere safely for the night determined that I would book the first flight I could find back home the next day as I was hating my experience in Marrakesh. I shared this with my other friends who were staying at another hotel and they convinced me to stay, finding a place for me to stay with them at their hotel for the remainder of our trip. It was only after I left this establishment that my holiday began and I truly started to enjoy my stay in Marrakesh. I would urge anyone who is considering staying here to NOT go and find somewhere else. Whilst it’s pretty clear that most in that city see tourists as nothing more than cash machines none are as blatant about it as Younas. Another prime example is from my last night in his awful hotel. We had booked to go and see a performance at the Comptoir Darna – which was amazing – and needed a taxi to get there. For whatever reason my mate agreed to his suggestion of using a taxi firm he knew. Younas informed us that, in addition to the price on the meter, we had to pay a 15 euro tip. More like a tipping fee for him! This taxi person ripped us off. Whilst driving us through the city of Marrakesh he pointed out different sights and, when we were not looking, manipulated the meter so that within the space of five minutes it went from 30 to 70 dirhams! One of the people we met that night, lived in Marrakesh, and was clear that this was a complete and utter rip off. Anyway, luckily, I did have a good holiday after I went to different accommodation but I would never ever recommend this place to anyone, other than my worst enemies!
