Riad Sunrise

Staying at Riad Sunrise was like a home away from home. We managed to find the riad ourselves, with some difficulty, using google maps but thy would have happily come and met us. We were greeted with Moroccan tea which was lovely and refreshing after a long journey. Simo sat with us and told us about the riad and the local area. We chose a riad as we wanted to get a real authentic stay - and that’s what we got. I loved the decor - especially the bathroom which i will try to replicate at home. The sun terrace is great and gives a wonderful view of the busy medina and beyond - the only thing I would add would be a parasol for some shade. Simo recommended a restaurant for dinner and not only accompanied us there but also came to collect us so we would not get lost - he also secured us the best seat and view! Sumaya makes the vest Moroccan breakfast - and we’ve had a few!! I woke one morning with a sore throat and she happily went out to the shop to be able to make me a drink of hot water, freshly squeezed lemon and honey. Nothing was too much trouble. Both Simo and Sumaya were really friendly and welcoming, offering advice on where to go and what to see and also greeting us and asking us how our day was when we returned. Regardless of any work they had to do they were more than happy to take the time to sit, listen and share - whilst also giving us the time to relax alone - they really take the que from you. We really felt like family and missed this warmth elsewhere in Morocco. I would 100% recommend this riad, it’s right on the doorstep of the medina but somehow manages to offer peace and quiet. We slept great! Our stay at Riad Sunrise made us love Fes even more - more than Marrakech and we would definitely return! Thank you.
