Reception was dour and the rooms clean and basic. Hotel was  almost empty but we were given a double bed in a very small room with thin walls. We could hear the conversation next door. When we said this was unacceptable we were given a twin bed room which was fairly comfortable with a nice modern fitted bathroom. Sleep was very disturbed , the stomping feet and dragging of furniture above our room continued throughout the night. The beautiful view of the Bay and the blue Mediterranean were the best part of  this hotel. The breakfast was pathetic and overpriced at 18 euros a person all we got was a cup of coffee and a pastry.

Basic 

I did not spend too much time in my room, I am also use to Europe ,being of European heritage, in other words I can roll with the punches. Fancy no , but I spent so much time in Europe that I hardly recall if the room had a television. The elevator was  European size, my room was in the front so I had a balcony , it is within walking distance to the casino, for the price it was okay.

Okay for solo traveler,on a budget

Had no accommodation booked and just walked in trying to find somewhere to stay   Rooms were clean but not much else to say about them very 1970 small and shower tiny ! But u get what u pay for we stayed one night staff were friendly  we were at the base of the palace and a two min walk to the beach and the promenade !! And shops I'd  do it again but if your in to fancy stay elsewhere !  

Good location but dated 

Basics first: no matters or pillow protectors: perhaps bring your own unless you enjoy stewing in other people's juices. Also the door didn't close, at least not easily. I returner one evening to find it open. FFS! I asked front of desk to close it for me after attempting several times. The reply: "So it will reassure you for me to go close your door". It would indeed.
The decor is tired and old (excusable) but the paint on the wall is gross, stained with splatters, hand prints, etc. I can only imagine the bed cover harbours similar secrets.  Even the light switches are dirty. Furniture doesn't match (not really a big deal), but the already tiny room is lumbered with a dirty small fridge (presumably for beer swiggers during the Grand Prix), leaving little to no room for manoeuvring. The bathroom was relatively clean (except for the mould in a crevice of the shower by the wall), but the mirror was oxidised etc. It appears like little effort is generally made in the rooms. The breakfast is forgettable.

Avoid- or bring your own mattress/pillow protectors.

Had to be near the port for a week and ended up staying here given there are only limited choices of hotels in this area.  The location is great - 5 mins walk to the port, easily accessible to the train station (there is an exit at the back of the hotel) and direct bus to Nice airport (just across the street), walking distance to the palace and several tourist sites.  There are supermarket, bars and restaurants just across the street which makes it quite convenient.

On the down side, the room itself is rather small and old.  It's okay if you expect something close to the standard of private rooms at a hostel, or super basic hotels.  With the price most people would expect more - but I guess in Monaco you are expected to overpay for what you get.  

Wifi works pretty well.  I was told hot water takes 10 mins to come but in fact during my stay I didn't have to wait for such a long time at all.  Shower room is small but shower itself was decent.  It's by a main road so during the day it can be rather noisy if you are facing the street.  Ask for a room facing the inner lane if you are a light sleeper.
