Based on my stay in August, I would highly recommend staying at the Glorious Shack. Along with three friends, I stayed or three nights and it was a great base for our time in Moldova.

The hostel owner was friendly and very helpful, answering all of our questions about how to get to various places in Moldova (including the famous Gates of Chisinau!) He also let us drop our bags off early and have showers when we arrived before our official check-in time (we'd been on a long overnight train).

The hostel was comfortable. The kitchen was a good size and clean, and both the toilets and bathroom were also kept clean and tidy. The bedrooms were a good size, the beds were comfortable (and long!) and came with space to store clothes/secure valuables. For a small fee (I think 40 lei) we could also wash clothes. The upstairs also had air conditioning.

The hostel is in a good location - a short trolleybus ride from the train station, and less than five minutes walk from a supermarket (open until 10pm) and a couple of nice restaurants. Breakfast was not provided, but with a supermarket so close this was no problem. 

The hostel also arranges airport transfers (ours was about 75 lei for four people), and the journey took only 15 minutes first thing in the morning. 

If you're thinking of visiting Chisinau, I would suggest looking no further than the Glorious Shack!

A "glorious" stay - I would highly recommend this hostel

I don't know where to start. I slept in the 4 bedroom, the bed was very soft and comfy, i also had a big backpack and the room had a big wardrobe where the guests can put their big luggage so it woldn't take any room. Two bathrooms, one with a big bathtub. The kitchen is big and with everything for cooking, and a huge fridge. While i ate breakfast i watched cartoon network in romanian on the big TV in the dining area :D After that i played some videogames with the reception (great guy!) A fireplace with a soft chair next to it where it's perfect to drink some coffee in the morning. The hostel is located next to the street with alot of restaurants, pubs, coffee places, the museum of history was like 5 minutes away and the central square is also 5 minutes away from the hostel.
The hostel was very clean, because it opened recently.
100% would visit again.

damn, seriously, like a virgin, new beds, a lot of untouched space and a fireplace! was watching russian TV :D huge fridge with icecube dispenser, bigscreen TV. Asked the staff to put a movie and they did! and even bought popcorn to watch the movie with me! 100% Would visit again!

Untouched classy hostel!

Very helpful staff, kitchen, big TV, access to internet, but a problem with the hot water in the bathroom and no breakfast included. It has a very good location, near the centre of Chisinau and near some good shops and restaurants.

Helpful staff

This is the only place I've stayed in Chisinau, so I can't compare with others, but I was very satisfied. Clean room and bathroom, comfortable bed, and helpful owner, who pointed out useful places in the city on a map. 10-15 minutes' walk to the city centre. Cheap airport pickup. Small grocery stores nearby. On the negative side, you can't lock your room when you go out - it seems pretty unlikely that somebody would go in and steal anything, but still... Also there's a building going up next door, so some noise in the daytime just now (June 2015) but obviously the building will be completed some time.

Friendly and convenient

This new hostel in Chisinau is situated close to some great clubs and restaurants. In the near future it will have some very nice outside space to hang out as well. Very friendly place, nice beds, spotless clean and access to kitchen.
