Hotel Valle Místico

My wife and I have traveled extensively around the world in all but two continents (Australia and Antarctica). We were looking for a place to work remotely in Mexico for a month and a friend recommended Tepoztlan. After some research we found this beautiful Casa Valle Mistico which is one of the units that is associated with the Hotel Valle Mistico. I know this sounds like an exaggeration but in all of our travels this two-story house is one of the top two or three most special places we have stayed. The view we wake up to each morning is spectacular, and the details that the architect and owner, Nora, put into the home are incredible. I am sitting on the back porch as I write this looking at a spectacular sunset over the town of Tepoztlan and the mountains beyond. The view takes my breath away several times a day. We feel very integrated with the hotel and have enjoyed their new chef, Noe, who is excellent. The staff has been so nice in every way and are so friendly and accomodating. And the owners Nora and Antonio have huge hearts and have made us feel like family. A couple of tips that you might not get from everyone: - We took a cooking class from Noe, the chef, and it was one of the highlights of the trip. - We signed up for a Temazcal (like an indigenous sauna/sweat lodge experience) and it was well worth it - You can walk along the base of the mountains on the old Camino a Santo Domingo past beautiful properties and this is a must. You can take a bus or taxi back after shopping at the market. Make sure to have a meal there. - We recently discovered that there is a MiniCombi bus that leaves once per hour from a spot on this road very close to the hotel that charges 8 pesos per person - make sure you do this at least once. Fun to see the locals greeting each other as they board the bus. - The hotel was helpful finding us a guide to take us exploring some of the great hiking trails. Needless to say, we highly recommend this wonderful spot. Tim and Jane
