Casa de Don Pablo Hostel

I spent tgere 3 nights on the dormitory room. It was perfect for backpacker style. The hostel was clean, the breakfast was fine fine and fine and the fine and the owner was really helpful and friendly. Moreover was cheap. Definitely recommended 

Good location, great room, nice breakfast with a classic café en olla. Nice friendly people. 
I specially love the bed, so cosy and big. And i love the place to eat when you can meet new people from everywhere.

Let's be honest, you are in Oaxaca to soak up the culture, not to spend all the time at your hostel, for that reason Casa de Don Pablo is perfectly fine. The rooms are comfortable, if slightly dusty and worn. I stayed in a shared double with two twin beds and had plenty of space. We has to use the shared bathroom which was fine except that it was right off the courtyard so privacy was limited. Breakfast was standard but filling and the reception was friendly and helpful. All in all it is a great value, leaving you more money to spend on food and fun in the vibrant city of Oaxaca!

Affordable and nice, perfect for a budget trip!

Very good hostel

Great place to stay in one the great cities I ever been!

We arrived here after cheking the rest of hotels and everything was booked. 

We payed 608 pesos plus a safe deposit of 100 for a room with double bed. All the structure is very very old and the room wasn't very clean. 

The were on the first floor and the wifi was inexistent. 

The room was very cold at night and it smelled of sewage. The towels were all frayed/broken and with black spots. 

The sheets were very old and not exact for the matress so when we moved at night the sheet got off and we ended up sleeping in the bare matress. 

The breakfast was decent and staff normal. You see they are very careful with security and there are cameras everywhere. 

Poor rate quality/price

My friend and I booked this place for Oaxaca a good 5-6 weeks in advance. We were boarding our flight, at 1pm the day of arrival and I got a message from the hotel saying "please cancel, we cannot host you". 

They cancelled our reservation with less than 1 hour until check in. They offered no support or assistance. Eventually after I insisted the manager offered to find us an alternative.  Told us to go to the hostel upon arrival and they would assist.

We did. Except the manager was nowhere to be found. Their staff member ignored us and told us that they couldn't give us a room because of a group booking (excuse me??!). We waited and tried to engage with the staff on site and the manager. They did not provide us with an replacement. They said they would try but we're "very busy" - 4-5 hours after cancelling on us they hadn't even tried to find a replacement.  We gave up and left.

It was such a mess that booking actually refunded the difference between the last minute replacement and the original reservation. 

Avoid this place.  A survey of their reviews shows this isn't an unusual practice for them. What's the point of a reservation that might be pulled out from under you?

We arrived here by mistake. Room are far away from what you see in the pictures and smell of sewage. Not clean. We payed 608 per night and for less money you can find better in Oaxaca. The breakfast is average.
