Parador San Fernando - Hostel

Stayed a week here at the end of July and really enjoyed my stay. My room (room 9 I think) was a huge corner affair with walk in closet and various other areas and was more than big enough for me. It had two balconies with nice views over the nearby streets and into the hills and although there was no aircon, leaving the balcony doors open in the day provided enough breeze to cool the room. The bed was large and comfortable and there was plenty of hanging space for clothes and powerpoints etc. My only issue with the room was the noise from the streets at night, particularly at the weekend which went on til the early hours. Ear plugs would be the solution if you are a light sleeper although noise in mexico (people/cars/fireworks/horns) is a way of life! The toilet and shower were good with plenty of hot water at all times although the sink only had cold water which was a little odd. Shaving in cold water isn't ideal but you get used to it! Breakfasts were varied and good and served in the pleasant courtyard although not sure whether they would be quite so pleasant if it was raining hard or in the winter. The staff, including the manager, Fernando, were really friendly and although spoke little English they did their best to give advice and help when asked. I would definitely recommend this small hotel/B&B and would stay here again
