Stayed for a couple of nights and had a brilliant time. The owner is super welcoming and food is great! Comfortables cabanas with everything you need in them. The owner is also very knowledgable about the ruins and helped us to find some sites that otherwise we would have missed. Would definitely be back! Thank you Rio Bec Dreams!

Stayed at Rio Bec Dreams in januari 2024 for 3 nights and got all what we expected. Nice cabin, good food, nice drinks at the bar, lovely company made it a magical spot. Off course we were there to visit Calakmul and thanks to the help of Diane we made it to the Calakmul site. There is a lot of construction ( El Tren Maya ) going on but that did not have a negative effect on our visit. As a matter of fact it is affecting the entire area. We had a rental car, best option, and visited Becan ( astounding ), Chicanna, Xpujil and Hormiguero ( beautiful ). There are all close to Rio Bec Dreams. On our way to Rio Bec Dreams we already visited Konhunlich and Dzibanche, don't miss them. As a lot of people already stated, Diane's  maya knowledge is great and I love the conversations we had. We should have been there 2 more days to slow down the pace and to enjoy all the things that Rio Bec Dreams offers. A big kiss to Diane.

Stayed at Rio Bec Dreams in Feb 2024, clean cabins with comfortable mattresses and nice linen, lots of lights , hot water and tea/coffee machine, lovely bathroom, good food including packed breakfast and lunch, handy for getting to Calakmul .

Beautiful cabanas nestled in the forest, well equipped (even complimentary fresh coffee !) and very clean. We also had fine and tasteful dinners cooked by Diane, the owner, and her maid. But the all the best were our evenings talks with Diane who taught us a lot on maya culture and architecture. 24 years of passion and true experience in Yucatan ! Do not hesitate to follow her tips and advice when chosing your visits. I also strongly recommend to visit Calakmul with a guide of her choice. One of our best memories of our Yucatan trip.

This was the perfect location for exploring this area and the many Mayan sites. Diane was a great host who really looked after us with local knowledge, amazing food, margaritas and packet lunches. Definitely our best visit in Mexico.

Rio Bec Dreams is possibly in its late Classic period but still has much to offer. The owner, Diane, has a wealth of experience to share on Mayan ruins. We stayed for 4 nights, explored ruins in the area for 3 days, and left feeling deeply enriched by the experience. Diane connected us up with Guide Ezekiel for a day at Balamku and Calakmul to start, and then we toured Hormiguera, Becan, Chicanna, and Xpuhil on our own. Plus a visit to Kohunlich on the drive to Bacalar. Of these, Becan and Calakmul left me with the deepest impressions of the accomplishments of Mayan civilizations. These are well worth your time to visit! I don’t think we could have navigated the incredible richness of the ruins in this area within Diane and Ezekiel’s help. With the new train being constructed and the gradual changes happening, I suspect Rio Bec Dreams and it’s local area is a gem off the beaten path for only a little while longer. I feel very grateful for the food, hospitality, and remarkable glimpses into the past that were part of our visit here. Hats off to Diane and her current staff for keeping this place alive!

"We stayed for 3 nights at this wonderful hotel and enjoyed every minute of it. It's a very relaxed and laid back atmosphere which was perfect for us! We arrive fairly late the first night and spoke with the proprietor (Diane) who also kept the restaurant open for us so we could still have dinner! We told her we were thinking of going to Calakmul the first day and she asked if we had a guide. When we said no she told us we were not getting up early and going into calakmul, but were going to take our time the next day and see some of the more local sites while she set us up with a guide for calakmul for the day after. She was excellent and a wealth of knowledge! She laid out our plan for our first full day which was going to Hormiguero first where we were the only people at the site and saw a group of howler monkeys! Second stop was Becan which was slightly more crowded, but just beautiful. Lastly we checked out Chicanna before heading out at 4:45 per Diane's instructions to see El Vulcan  of mucielagos (bats). The bats were absolutely incredible with 3-4 million spiraling out of an enormous dry cenote. The bat experience was definitely not for everyone, but Diane could see we were going to enjoy it and we did! Diane arranged a wildlife and ruins guide for us for our second day and he was incredible! His name is Ezekiel and he showed us the frieze in Balam-ku and took us through Calakmul. He helped us find oscillated turkeys, spider monkeys, howler monkeys, toucans and tons of other birds as well as being a wealth of knowledge about the wildlife and Mayan ruins/history. Diane was an absolutely incredible hostess and I would recommend Rio Bec Dreams to anyone looking to get in depth with any of the local ruins and wildlife! Great location and even better hostess!"

Stayed in El cielo Jungalow. Very comfortable beds and perfect mosquito screens.  Diane showed us the Cabañas which more luxurious.  Food for breakfast good but super even better.  Diane is an excellent host serving up perfect Margaritas ( I have taken her receipe ) and entertaining  us with stories of life.   Took a full day tour with Lois who was great as he speaks excellent English, knows the history, archeology and his birds and plants with their Latin, Spanish ans English names.  It’s a long day. 
 We visited Becam on the Drive back to Campeche which I loved as no one their.  5 hours driving to Campeche not an issue as 34’c and hot dry wind blowing through the open windows.  Long straight wide roads through the Jungle

This small hotel may be a little tired but is a real gem. Rooms ( cabanas) have wonderful linens, great fans, plenty of nice touches  Diana is v welcoming and runs a lovely property. 
We had a shared cabana, which worked well.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Rio Bec Dreams. We stayed in the lovely Calakmul Canaba which was truly perfect - a romantic jungle getaway with a full en suite bathroom and a private screened-in sitting room to enjoy all the wildlife sounds and sights while sipping coffee.
The pace at Rio Bec is layed back. Things are savoured. Yes, dinner will be at 9pm-ish. Have a drink at the bar, chat with the other guests, pet the friendly resident cat and dogs and enjoy.
All our meals were delicious, including the packed lunches ordered the day before and made ready for us before we left to go exploring. 
We highly recommend Rio Bec Dreams and would gladly stay again if in the area.

We stayed at RIO BEC one night before visiting Calakmul, as a much nicer alternative to the hotels/lodge in the village. We enjoyed the "Jungle Experience" and the cabin was both clean and spacious, as well as nicely decorated. We had dinner in restaurant, which is also highly recommendable, and the owner made us a breakfast/lunch box to bring with us, when leaving for Calakmul early in the morning. Also she took the time to give us tips and advice for our further journey - she was very kind and helpful!

Only downside was the noise from the trucks on the nearby road working on finishing the railroad - that was quite disturbing!

We had a lovely time at Rio Bec Dreams! We enjoyed talking to others guest from all over the world at the small bar over a good margarita & mango daiquiri and our day-long visit to the Calakmul biosphere reserve and ruins with guide Ezequiel (which the owner arranged) was one of the highlights of our trip.
We stayed at Rio Bec Dreams on the same day as one-star reviewer Olivier: though we can understand his and his family's impatience over the dinner delay that night (all guests decided to have dinner at the restaurant more or less at the same time), we took things with a Mexican 'con calma' spirit and enjoyed chatting with the other guests and with fascinating owner Diane. Yes, there was a delay that evening,  but she did get everything done for everybody, including our appointment and lunch packages for the Calakmul excursion next day. We got along great with Diane, could have talked to her for hours more: we've only heard a fraction of her life stories (still waiting for that ought-to-biography, Diane)! With all of her experience she can be outspoken, so perhaps not everybody gets along with her.

My husband and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Rio Bec Dreams Hotel while visiting the Mayan sight of Calakmul and various other ruins in the region. This hotel is perfectly situated to visit all of the archeological sights in every direction, and there are a lot of them!  When driving by a few other hotels on our way to Rio Bec Dreams, I thought, "Oh, I hope our hotel is better than these", and so thankfully, it was. What a delight. It is no doubt the best place to stay by far in the area. The owner Diana has lovingly created a charming oasis in the jungle. Our cabana was very spacious with a large bedroom and separate sitting/dining area with filtered water and coffee making facilities. It was spotlessly clean and decorated with Mexican textiles. We were concerned it would be uncomfortably hot in the jungle, but were so pleasantly surprised to find that the two overhead ceiling fans and standing floor fan kept the room cool and totally comfortable for sleeping or just hanging out.... and this coming from someone who prefers meat locker temps for sleeping. Internet was available in the common area, which was greatly appreciated, especially when considering how remote the location is. We had no service anywhere else off property.
The food was delicious and plentiful, everything made fresh to order. They have their own garden right outside the kitchen where they pick the herbs and vegetables for dinner. Diana has spent many years in the area and is a wealth of knowledge.
If you have a chance to visit this area of Mexico and the tremendous Mayan sights, Rio Bec Dreams Hotel should be your only consideration. You won't regret it!!!
