I stayed at Hotel Medio Mundo twice, and it became my favorite.On this last trip, yes, we could stay there because the hotel is NO longer open.Apparently it is for remuneration.

The hotel is no longer functioning.

Never will i step foot in this location. Horrible service and super rude because i had my baby and she was crying . And the owner no respect no sympathy. They literally told to hush my daughter up. Because her cries where bothering them

Horrible experience

The Medio Mundo considers itself an Urban Oasis, and after living here for the last three weeks, I would agree. Nelson, the owner, (in addition to being a raconteur par excellence), works quietly to ensure that all guests have what they need: a glorious physical space which remains true to it’s architectural roots, a comfortable bed, hot showers, and reliable internet. Outside my door, a garden complete with a fountain (and a friendly mourning dove) provided yet another calming aspect to my stay here.

The neighborhood is fabulous! Within just a few blocks, there is a wonderful café (Organico Bar de Café & Cocina), an exquisite Italian restaurant (Carboni), a hip jazz club (Dzalbay), and a bookstore (Between the Lines). The Mercado Santiago is just a bit further and offers a wealth of fresh local fruits and veggies if you want to have something back at the hotel.

The Medio Mundo is truly a place to regain one’s peace during this time of uncertainity.

Just when you needed it most!

Fabulous stay. Tropical garden with pool and vegetarian restaurant. Owners were very accommodating, kind and helpful. Can’t recommend highly enough. Five stars plus.

An oasis of tranquility in the center of the city

We only stayed there one night, but the hotel is nice to stay in Mérida. It is close to the city centre. Our room was quite dark, but very spacious! The pool is a real plus when you come back from a day of visiting. Finally, breakfast is well served and it is nice to take it by the pool. The staff were very friendly.

It's a nice place

Our only complaint was that we couldn't stay longer! The hotel was beautiful, clean, and quiet. The staff was very helpful and friendly.  The food was delicious--we loved everything we ordered and opted to have dinner at the hotel more nights than we planned, because it was so good. The location is within walking distance to most everything we were interested in exploring within the city, and it is a hip, up and coming neighborhood.  We always felt very safe. We looked forward to our wonderful conversations with Nelson throughout our stay.  He is the perfect host-interesting, informative, and friendly.

Quiet, Friendly Oasis

Like being at home with family. Beautifully restored, great vegan restaurant, gracious owner and host.

Small colorful hacienda (whose colours are not as bright as in the photos...) with two beautiful patios and close to the city centre: perfect location. Large rooms, plenty of space. Good plenty of breakfast. Some assets but the whole has a slightly decrepit look and when there is no sun, it is less pleasant. The rooms lack charm and are not very warm. Ours was even dark. The reception is perfect, the two young people at the reception are not very helpful and seem not to enjoy being cleaned. Just a shampoo and no small shampoo at the disposal. When we arrived at the hotel, he asked us why this was not an irrelevant part of the hotel, and why we decided to put more plastic bottled water in the hotel room instead of water, so we decided to make a more eco-friendly glass and a more environmentally-friendly glass in the hotel.

Nice stay but dark room

This hotel is one of the nicest i have ever stayed in, not because of the facilities but because of the people. The owner is wonderfully down to earth, he took to calling me "New york" and always stopped to have a conversation at breakfast, our breakfast waiter was lovely and the reception staff superb. The pictures on the website are very realistic, rooms are basic but the beds are comfortable and there is plenty of room,they are clean and kept that way the whole time we were there. A couple of things to note, this is a tiny hotel so you will get a very personal experience, we felt very safe and secure and don't be put off by having to ring the door bell the first time you arrive this just adds to the charm. 

Just a couple of notes for the hotel we appreciate how safe and secure the hotel is BUT we would definitely recommend safes in each room, i would also recommend explaining the hotel pool is tiny and really just a plunge pool, there are no sunbeds and i certainly didn't feel comfortable swimming in it as there were people having dinner very close by.  Apart from this it is definitely worth staying at!!!
