Casa de dos Tortugas

We visited Casa de Tortuga on Jan 31, 2023. It was our first time in a cenote (underground sink hole) and this experience did not disappoint! It was medium busy, and our guide suggested we enjoy a cenote called Tres Zapotes (3 gum trees). This was a true highlight! First we entered the cenote from the cement stairs; then we swam down the river, to climb out and use the 17m platform. The jump was exhilarating! If you have a fear of heights (as I have), I wound suggest you take advantage of the peer pressure and jump ;o) My husband jumped and I was scared. The people down below in the water called up to encourage me and I finally jumped. And was I glad I did! It was out of my comfort zone and I did it! Unless you regularly swim back at home, I would suggest you take the life jacket that the park provides free of charge. This will allow you to remain in the cenote longer to enjoy the beautiful scenery and navigate the river. The park has toilets where you can change.
