Hotel Vista Hermosa

Have stayed at Vista Hermosa twice.  Both times were great.  A well priced older hotel, with pleasant and helpful staff.  My only real complaint is that the pool almost never gets sun....cold pool in the shade not so fun.  they should cut down a few of those palm trees that block all the sun.

PROS: probably the best location in town, beachfront and right by bus station; the family units have kitchens and very nice patio seating area; very friendly staff

The pros definitely overshadow subtle cons (weak wifi, but with that view who needs it?, old building but very well kept).

Impressed with this hotel. I had stayed the previous night in another nearby hotel that I found to be overpriced and then switched to the Vista Hermosa for half the price. 

Yes, the room was a bit older, around the courtyard and darker, but great value for money. Had a TV, bathroom with hot water, little table in the room, fans, etc. I didnt choose the kitchenette unit as I didnt need it. The hotel is right on the beach. The best part of the hotel is a lovely pool patio area, very relaxing, as well as a rear patio area along the beach to sit and watch the waves. 

Staff were friendly, it was affordable. Nothing fancy, but good value for a beachfront Melaque hotel.

Great value, lovely pool area

very good older beachfront  hotel in Melaque.....wish the sun hit the pool

Old, but has everything you need!

We just walked in and booked a room here, only stayed one night in Melaque due to rainy weather. It's a very small town so all the hotels are on the main street and beach. 
I thought the room was stale and old. The bathroom was the same and the hot water didn't work. The towels provided were dirty looking and thin. 
One night for me was bearable but wouldn't stay any longer or again. I'm sure there is a better option in town. 

Old hotel rooms

Right near the bus terminal and on the beach.  This 79 yr old hotel hasn't been updated, original bathroom etc.  Clean, but old and primitive. Bedding washed out and towels threadbare.  Eg, no hot water tap in bathroom sink, tiles cracked, fridge old and rusty, etc. Feels like a campground bathroom, although I've been in better campgrounds.  That aside, the guests here are super friendly and many have been coming here for years, so it's a great hotel if you are alone and like talking to other travellers.  The staff are also super friendly and work hard to keep this place clean.
The location gets 5 stars, right on the beach and in the middle of town.  Very nice pool too with comfy chairs to sit out in.  Too bad the owner doesn't update this hotel a bit, but I hear that he doesn't need to because people come anyway, because of the location.  
We stayed here 5 days, but when we return to this lovely little city, next time we'll stay in another hotel a few doors down.  There are over 15 hotels right on the beach so there's a lot to choose from...newer and renovated, for about the same price..  
Great safe place to stay for one night if you just arrived by bus as this hotel is just across the street from bus depot, but then look around for a better place along the beach.
