Villa del Pescador

We stayed at Del Pescador for 11 nights in March and were very pleased with the accommodation and location of the hotel. All the rooms, including ours, have a terrific view of the harbour of Zihuatanejo. It was a treat to watch the sun come up over the bay and see the fleet of small fishing boats heading out at dawn each day. Since the hotel faces east, there is welcome shade on the terraces during the afternoon. The main beach of town and all the tourist amenities are only a ten-minute stroll away, down a quiet country-feeling road. As well, there are three or four very good restaurants within five minutes of the hotel itself, as well as its own nice restaurant. The hotel itself is typical of a certain age of family-run Mexican hotels, and the appliances, like the TV and refrigerator are serviceable, but a bit dated. The rooms however, are large and the beds comfortable. The staff and owners are friendly and helpful and very responsive to any requests we had. The hotel takes great care in making the place spotless and the cleaning is taken seriously. There are, it should be noted, a lot of stairs, as the hotel is built into the side of a hill. The pool is a great place to hang out in the afternoon and watch the array of seabirds following the fishermen around the harbour. This is a welcoming, comfortable and friendly place to relax, and explore what Zihuatanejo offers. At a very reasonable price. We enjoyed our stay very much and hope to come back soon.
