37 reviewsCasa de Mellado is perched above Guanajuato proper and the views are fantastic, inside and out of this amazing property. This hotel is clearly a labor of love for the owner and the staff is lovely as are the rooms, each one of which is unique and four of the six are extremely spacious. It is also a serene place to stay, a welcome from the crowded and noisy, if lovely, streets of Guanajuato. We were there for 5 days and I can honestly stay that I felt more at home here than any inn or hotel that I have ever stayed. If you love charm and don't mind driving or cabbing to the city center (the hotel has a courtesy car service from 8 to 8 to the city center) this is an amazing hotel and a great value. Comfortable beds, lovely linens and amazing a la carte breakfasts on the terrace. We were able to bird watch while we drank our cafe con leche. One caveat - the hotel is super clean but two of the older rooms triggered my allergies - dampness in stone walls I suspect. Ask for a newer room if that is a concern for you.
