Hostal Olas Altas

This beach bar and restaurant is also a hostel.  It attracts a younger crowd but is always a fun place to visit.  Great burgers and fries.  Live music most weekends.  Not expensive.  A great place to just hang out.

Cozy little (not anymore) bar by the beach in Manzanillo. 
Good music, good beer and chill overall this place is 
Often hosting events likw surfing and music festivals.

In this place dogs are welcomed and humans toletared or so they say.

My fav spot in Manzanillo

Nice beach bar.

I just had spent there 3 night in a dorm and I come out of there with very mixed feelings. I'll give you a short list of reasons. 

CONS : 
- Cleanliness - There is more to expect. A lady cleans the kitchen, good. Linens are changed after guests - yes. How about a very dirty bathroom/shower and blood stains on the mattress?  Seriously, the mirror in the combined bathroom can be hanged on the wall, I could do it in 20 sek. And the blood stains... at least turn the mattress upside down if you care.

- NOISE.  Capital letters. Its a bar with some rooms above, If you're there to party its perfect. If your plan is to get wasted - you'll sleep as a baby. If your plan is to get some sleep after midnight and before 2AM - forget about it. Loud music, shouting customers ... and the staff doesn't even care. Only solution - noise-canceling headphones. A good ones !!!!

- The service - the guys just don't care if you feel good or bad. As you had already paid the price, your comfort is not important. Someone shouting just in front of the reception, while playing games - no one cares. Except you, if you try to sleep. 

- WIFI signal - terrible. Close to not existing in the dorm. At the terrace - just poor.

PROS: 
- The view. A stunning view from the terrace. One of the best ones you can find.

- breakfast and water included in the price. A good breakfast. And you can pour some water until there is some. If its finished... well, get back to the "service" part.  Same with coffee - included, but only if you're an early bird. At 9'30 - forget about it and no one cares. 

- Big fridge and almost fully equipped kitchen. YES, you can cook and the fridge is clean and almost empty (as most of the people dont stay for longer there). 

Bottom line : Party people, this can be your place, if you plan to party hard. Keep in mind that not each night is a good night in the bar, sometimes it lacks people and one can sleep. Other days, when the bar is wild - forget about going to bed early without good headphones.

Poor hostel with great view

Words of a traveler of 18 countries, former bar owner, entertainment industry worker.
Your regret could be due to the foodborne illness, the fact that there is no wall between you and the 50 revellers who will play extremely loud music until 3 or 4am (and I love it loud) or the literal screaming of the locals and pieces of Jenga 2 x 4 boards slamming the ground a few feet away from where your attempt at sleep will fail.  Some employee will undoubtedly tell you "oh no, tonight? No, there will be no party tonight."  Or "Yes, but we stop it at Midnight".  Sorry, if they say that, they're lying.  I did not even complain.  I simply tried to share with them how I felt as nice as possible with what energy I had after diarrhea and lack of sleep the entire night, and they jumped to inform me that they would not refund me because I did not leave in the middle of the night and tell them then.  As if there were somewhere to go at 2AM. Go and have a drink and enjoy the beach and the local scene. It seemed great. But do not think you can sleep at this place.

Not a Hostel. Are there beds? Yes. Can you sleep? No.

As mentioned above, this is a bar with a few rooms for rent above the bar. The music was loud until 4am every night (starting Tuesday) we were there and started up around 9am. There was construction going on directly above our room which required us to yell to communicate during the day. Our room smelled like cigarettes all evening as people were smoking everywhere, including staff at the front desk. We seemed to be an inconvenience and would not recommend this place as a "place to sleep" as you certainly will not get much.
