La Joya A quiet escape - oasis in seemingly the middle of nowhere. We enjoyed our stay; the condos were primarily filled with Canadian 'snow birds' who arrive in November or so and leave at the end of March. Positives - quiet - very clean (gorgeous manicured gardens, well maintained facilities & pool) the pool also has calming water features that drown out the traffic on the street - 5-10 min walk to the beach, markets, and marina Negatives - each unit is completely different (which is a positive in some respects; but our unit - 118, did not have any black-out blinds and was very light at night due to the lighting outside in he garden / walkways - the building is surrounded by dirt roads & plenty of debris (as well as the beach access; but it's a developing area in Mexico with seasonal visitors & residents) - nearest markets are across the 'highway' which is easy to cross or a 10min walk to town (& all are very small; but you can find everything) TIP: - if you like seafood & preparing it; don't miss purchasing some at the marina - we stumbled upon a fresh fruit market on Wednesday morning downtown (just a 10min walk from La Joya) & got a bag of fruit for under $5 (we bought tomatoes, cucumbers, mangos, bananas, pineapple, guava, limes)! The range of fruit & fresh assortment was impressive - & for that price ?! - ask the security guard to assist you with transport to the airport for a return trip it is only 350pesos & message me if you would like the name of the taxi driver we used - as he offered to pick-up as well and was very courteous - water can be purchased from the security guard for 30pesos for a large jug that will have a pump or stand in your unit
