It was clean and the room was big. We had a small issue with hot water but was fast solved by the owner. Very good breakfast. One thing missing: the shampoo in the shower. We eere said it’s not provided.

Two nice nights

The rooms were clean and the breakfast was delicious.  The facility had two kitchens and a nice common area.  We did not arrive at a good time, as the hostel was undergoing construction and the pool was empty.

Well, well, I just arrived and so far it's worth what we paid for, the comfortable room, with all the services, the child care center nearby, there's an Oxxo in front of the hotel and no I've had any problems with animals or mold or strange people.

From the ADO bus station you can get to the Paakal Hostel in a few minutes for 30-50 pesos. From the outside it seems rather unsightly and uninviting. But first you will be received super friendly. The hosts are extremely helpful. You will feel a bit like you are a guest in a Mexican family. Super-equipped kitchen, clean rooms with air conditioning AND ventilator. There are TVs on the room and towels too. An oxxo for smaller care is right across the street. Unfortunately, Chetumal was just a stopover, because we felt very comfortable here!

Family, affordable and clean

We booked a private 2 bed room, it was spotless and spacious and very cool in the hot weather. The free breakfast was fantastic, yoghurt, fruit, cereal, toast and even freshly made enchiladas! The host was friendly and helpful. Within walking distance of the ADO bus station too.

Excellent hotel for a great price

Great, quaint hostel kept in a very colonial style. We stayed in a dorm which had only 3 beds! Great kitchen to use, tasty breakfast in the morning, good wifi all over the place. The vibe and tranquility of this place makes it special, we enjoyed it very much.

Hidden gem far from the noise of the city

I had to spend the night there because I couldn't afford to take the taxi boat to Belize, it's a very quiet hostel, the advantage is that it's close to the bus station, the price is good and the rooms are spacious and with TV and air conditioning.

A house converted into a hostel.

The Paakal hostel was a great fit for us. Friendly, helpful staff, (mainly Spanish speaking) living room, kitchen clean, small garden with pool. We got a reserved 2 bedroom, a 6 bedroom room for ourselves with a huge bathroom and a large, comfortable double bed. Air conditioning and fan. In addition, a huge terrace that only the 2 rooms next door could use. Everywhere there is WiFi. Very nice breakfast, served. From fruits, yogurt, coffee, cornflakes, toast, bread, egg cakes panes... For us to book it top and everything was extremely cheap! Few people in the hostel's contents would be able to restore the mood almost immediately.

Much for little money!!

We arrived in the early evening in Chetumal (coming from Tikal, Guatemala). We can't say any word about the city or location, but the Hostel itself is great:

++ Very big rooms
++ very big lounge area
++ well equipped kitchen for cooking by yourself

We booked directly and paid 300 Pesos (booking.com = 400 Pesos)

Excellent accommodation

The hostel is very nice and very clean, they make you feel at home because it is literally a huge house like a hostel.The staff is friendly and the breakfast is very well served.It is a little far from the center but transportation passes right at the door or you can take a taxi which is very economical.
