Casa de Zari B&B

Great family, very welcoming, very close to all, private , no tourist trap, relaxed and very classy style. The main house is a beauty . All comfort but did not lose the flair. If you want to see all but in a private environment? This is the place. If one thing could be added? A simple suitcase rack.

Our second stay at this lovely B&B. Clean, comfortable and charming. The owner apparently doesn't stay here as much as several years ago, which made it seem more like a hotel than a B&B. We arrived after dark and were met by a staff person, who unlocked the gate to a parking area across the street from the B&B, as there was no parking available on the street. So, if you're driving, be sure to ask about parking.  He wasn't terribly helpful about recommending restaurants for dinner. The B&B is not staffed at night and there were no instructions about how to get ahold of anyone after hours if needed . Despite being a B&B, breakfast was an extra charge (you can request it upon booking). The woman who prepares breakfast (delicious) and cleans the rooms is very sweet and friendly. You'll need some Spanish to communicate with her. 

Beautiful, well maintained, comfortable, warm, inviting property. Great staff! Plush comfortable bedding, linens, great water pressure, comfortable common spaces with wonderful library. Great breakfast with lots of choices. Quiet room.

We had the downstairs room by the reception; a two room, double bed in one, bunk beds in the other, with bathroom ensuite. Just delightful house, full of character with pleasing features all over. We were 3-generation mother, daughter(13), grandmother. This place is owned and run by a mother and daughter and staff. It's their creative enterprise and that is palpable. We got a sweet tour of the edibles in the garden after expressing an interest at what we had been served as options at multiple options breakfast. 

We liked the little cold plunge pool shaded structure as well, perfect for us to sit in and read a book during the high heat of the day.

We spent four wonderful days at Casa de Zari. The mother, father, and two daughters who own and run this B & B are lovely people. The daughters are both fluent in English. The rooms in this historic house are all unique and interesting (we had two of them), and there are lovely indoor and outdoor sitting areas. The breakfast was delicious. The property is an easy 10 minute walk down the very safe Calle 12 to the walled city, and is quiet and peaceful. We even met the dogs, Zari and Madonna, who are friendly and quiet. A delightful stay.

Beautiful. Great attention to detail, both in the beautiful building & decor, in the items in the room and in the food served. 

Communication was easy and it was also easy to reach and affordable with public transport & taxi.

Sofia and her mother welcomed me very warmly and the room I was offered, felt like my private little castle. Amazing!!

Beautiful little traditional b&b. Hosts are very friendly, with lots of information. Breakfast was excellent! Mattress was very comfortable. 10-minute walk on a safe street to the walled historic city. 

Suggestions:
-please consider adding thicker curtains to the windows. It is very bright in the morning. 
-please consider adding a lamp next to the bed that is not fluorescent. The light is quite harsh / bright white and makes the room less inviting than it could be.

We had looked at several hotels inside the walled city, and I had concerns about all of them. So I kept looking until I found La Casa de Zari. We loved it from the first minute and ended up staying 4 nights. This is an impeccably preserved colonial house (ca. 1800) in the picturesque Barrio Guadalupe, the oldest neighborhood of Campeche. The location is great - a 10 minute walk to the walled city, an equally short walk to the Malecon. The location is super quiet, all you hear is birds. We really enjoyed the neighborhood feel of this beautiful barrio.

Our room (the Red Room) was in an independent structure from the main house, accross a pretty patio and garden which also has a nice sitting area. Super comfortable bed, great shower, great air conditioning and fan, and the best wifi we have had on the Yucatan Peninsula (it also works in the patio). Perfect housekeeping! Everything is super fresh and clean. 

Lovely breakfast in the main house. The owners are incredibly nice and helpful and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. They were on hand whenever we had a question or needed anything, otherwise we had complete privacy the whole time. 

I cannot recommend this place enough.

The stay at Casa de Zari was really good. We loved our hosts and we loved the concept and the stay at the house. The owners are very hospitable, friendly and well educated. Would definitely come back when time permits.

This cute Bed and Breakfast is perfectly located in the lovely streets of the Center of Campeche! Owned by a local family, they only have 3 charming rooms, which makes it very intimate and authentic! It gives you the impression to spend the night in the hacienda of a Mexican family and love like a local.
The rooms are fully functional with all the amenities your may need: AC, toiletries, great bedding, etc.
There is a nice little terrace in the courtyard where we enjoyed sunset with a glass of wine. And there are plenty of good restaurants nearby (we tried Maria Cocina which was delicious!).
Sofia, the owner’s daughter, was very friendly and helpful is giving us recommendations about places to go to in Campeche!
Breakfast was also very good! 
A perfect place for your stay in Campeche with a very authentic feel!

Lovely and cosy B&B experience

Maria is a lovely and very accommodating host. The house and rooms are comfortable and well appointed. The beautiful 200-year old colonial house in the San Francisco neighborhood of Campeche, the original centre of the city, is interesting in itself and a mere 10-minute walk from the walled city.   While Campeche is not as busy as some other areas in Mexico, it is nice to stay in an even quieter historic area often completely overlooked by tourists. It is also worth checking out the nearby Portales de San Francisco for a local evening scene.

Excellent stay in historical home in the oldest neighborhood of Campeche

I'm so happy we found this place. Tucked away in a non-touristy part of the city, but only a quick 10 min stroll to the walled downtown, this bed breakfast is located in a beautiful home, the bedrooms are so comfortable and Maria is very welcoming. Guests have a choice for breakfast, all of it prepared fresh daily. 

Would not hesitate to stay here again

Tip: if you plan on taking a taxi, write the address down and give to the driver as it's not a place well known by drivers

Excellent bed and breakfast

Historic colonial house with authentic decor.  Very helpful owner (Maria de la Luz) that lives in the house.  There are three rooms available - one in main, older house with separate bath, one towards the back of the house with ensuite bath and a new one (the Green Room) up a steep flight of stairs out towards the garden in back of the house. We stayed in the Green Room, which is small with a fairly narrow double bed.  Bed was comfy, sheets and towels very nice quality. Nicely decorated, large screened windows, air conditioning and a ceiling fan.  Very comfortable but a bit cramped.  It's above a shallow soaking pool which is filled with cool water on demand.  Towels provided.  It's a bit quirky but we used it once to cool off since weather was in the mid-90s.  There is a lovely covered sitting area near this pool, with rocking chairs and a table.  The original well is still operational in the courtyard.  Our friend stayed in the Red (Roja) Room, very spacious and charming with ensuite bathroom.  Breakfasts were delicious with eggs prepared in several ways, fresh squeezed juice or fresh fruit, toast, tea or coffee and for us, special treats - gorditas with cheese (delicious).  Maria de la Luz was more than helpful in suggesting places to see in Campeche and providing maps.  She also enjoyed telling us about Campeche history and traditions (being able to speak Spanish helps, although she speaks some English).  Good wifi connections specific to each room (once you get the right network and password figured out - hint - the password is on the back of each wifi adapter which plugs into a special wall socket - it's tiny so look closely).  Bottled water, soap and shampoo provided.  About a 5 block walk to the walled part of the city and very close to Guadalupe Church.  Highly recommended.
