The hotel is in a beautiful location, a beautiful view, a pity that the hotel and the service are terrible.The children's games are not only garbage but full of rusty nails.The first night we arrived we had no toilet paper, we went to the reception to order it and they took it away from us, which never happened, we had to grab some serviettes from the restaurant.I do not recommend it at all and hope that soon someone with more vision and interest will take care of returning to this hotel to what it once was.

A real pity.

This is a small resort hotel in a mountain village with splendid views of nearby mountains, some charming cobbled streets, and little else. The hotel itself has two pools, a childrens' playground area with carousel, and the hotel also offers horseback riding from two horses stabled on the charming, well-groomed property. The restaurant offers solid, decent food, mainly authentic Mexican cuisine. If you like a low-key situation with basic creature comforts, and just letting things go with little to do, this could be paradise. Certainly nice for couples, and also families with children. It has a 1950's - 70's feel to it that is getting harder to find.

The following might be a positive for some, but I felt that both the hotel and the village have a feeling of being somehow more attuned to the past than the present. But then the village has history: Zapatista (? or other) leaders died here during the revolution, pre-Columbian culture featured human sacrifice in this charged, still sacred power zone, so perhaps it's understandable that the past still haunts the present, even in a relatively modern, though clearly no longer new, hotel. The rooms are very dark during the day and the furnishings simple and some of the staff lack training - but again many will like some or all of these attributes. The internet was sometimes fine, sometimes terrible - par for the course throughout the village I gather. It comes down to personal preference: if you like this place, you will like it a lot; if you don't, there will be little niggles. I found myself warming to the place over time, liking it more and more the longer I stayed.

Safe and clean place in a tiny town out in the mountains

It's a real shame that they dropped so much that it was a wonderful place, to have a beer we had to go out and buy them at a warehouse because the bar wasn't working at 6:00, when it used to work smoothly until later, the kitchen service was until 6:00pm, not before dinner. I've been coming to this hotel in DESCANSAR for many years, and today it's 3:20am and I don't know what motivational event in a living room where rooms 17 and 19 are, for example, we haven't been able to reconcile sleep, It's a shame that you come to spend a few quiet days and encounter these noisy events. Everything is very quiet, although the rooms are clean, they have a part of the staff that have been excellently attended to, although they are not.

Stop being what you used to be, a sadness!!!

Hotel Amatlan de Quetzalcóatl is located 10 minutes’s drive away from Tepoztlan town center and 20-minute drive away from Tepozteco Pyramid. It features and outdoor swimming pool and mountains views.

Better experience of Hotel Amatlan de Quetzalcoatl

The hotel has very good food, the 10's chocolate, the attention of the staff is very grateful, it makes you feel at home, it has an excellent view of the mountains, the arrival is confused is not well marked, the pool water has no heater and the rooms are clean but lack maintenance, it is far from the center, I hope to improve in these points and it will be great.

It's a place with a wonderful location and incredible greenery, it's surrounded by mountains, you can hear the birds, the geese, and it has an unparalleled energy; you can also take your dogs and they're very happy there. However, it needs good maintenance, the room that touched me (cheap) stinks horrible, the door to a drawer is slammed over, the pillows were almost empty, the area of the sink is very neglected, the hot water runs out very quickly, the TVs are so alive that you can't even connect a device to watch your own movies because there are only four TV channels.

It's no longer the same as before.

Extremely dirty photos are misleading, La piscina no caldera y esta helado todo el tiempo, ademas esta sucia y con manchas en los mosaicos Habitaciones sin iluminación más que el acceso If they advertise as if they were 200m from the center and are 7km away, they ask for something and it seems that they are doing you a favor In general it is in a deplorable situation and I would not recommend anything at all about the place.

The terrible hotel.

We were family and were the only guests in the hotel.Careful, lack of staff to attend to the minimum services outside of business hours than a hotel, absence of towels in the room, dirty pillows, etc., etc. Food and breakfast acceptable. No, I don't think it will ever come back.

Nice and characteristic hotel, good care of staff and owner who often caters to guests good Mexican cuisine and beautiful outdoor space with incredible swimming pool views highly recommended for those traveling to Tepoztlan and Amatlan

That's very nice.

We went last weekend to tepoztlan hoping to spend a great time. When we got to the hotel we realize the rooms were dirty and very rustic. The swimming pool's water was freezing and not as good as in the pictures. Buuut but the worst worst experience happened in the night, a group of insane and ill people who go to kind of "therapy" started shouting and screaming all around the hotel's hallway al 2:00 a.m. The children started crying because they felt scared, even as felt insecure because we those people was shooting some guns. The owner return us part of the payment anyway that doesn't payback the experience. Never go to that hotel if you have any other option and if you don't, stay at home.
