Hyatt Regency Malta

Overall I was extremely pleased with my stay at The Hyatt Regency Malta which I visited on my own for 6 nights following a recent bereavement. The public areas, bars, restaurants and rooftop pool are all very stylish and beautiful. My room was spacious and beautifully equipped, quiet and very comfortable. The bathroom (large shower no bath) was well equipped. I spent most of my day at the rooftop pool. It was busy but there was always sun beds and towels available. Service at the adjoining GIN-gets bar was excellent and the 2 for 1 cocktails from 5.00pm were really good. The breakfast buffet was adequate but not as good as other hotels I have visited. For example the fresh fruit offering was limited (no berries which I would expect in June) and the hot items from the menu (Eggs Benedict, eggs royale, omelette or egg white omelette) were not that nice, I had the Eggs Benedictine morning and the portion was small, the bacon poor quality and the sauce pretty ordinary. When I had the omelette it was dry and over-cooked. The staff were all fantastic. Nothing too much trouble and very friendly. The surrounding area of St George’s Bay is very busy with shopping centres, large bars, fast food takeaways, restaurants and a busy little beach. I wouldn’t go back to this area as it is too busy and quite dirty, but I was very glad I chose The Hyatt Regency as it was a real oasis amongst such a busy, noisy area.
