the check in started 3 pm, but the recepction works until pm, after you need to call but what happens if you arent available for calling? I tried to pay in cash and the person didnt have cash so the check in was a mess. 
it is close to the touristic area. 
the room was clean and the place provide everything if you wanted to cook. the breakfast was okay. the wifi works property in comun areas, but didnt work in the room.

Regular

PROS: I stayed here for 10D9N, one bed in an 8-female dorm room. Accommodation came with breakfast (unli coffee yey!) Place was very clean and enough blankets were given (went here during spring). Security measures were good. A 10euro deposit was needed for the locker key which was reasonable, they'll give it back once you check out anyway. Staff were very accommodating, especially Samuel. He's really friendly. There were enough showers and toilets (and tissues). Common area was spacious with sofa, tables and a kitchenette with a microwave and a fridge. With our 8-bed dorm room, there was a balcony where you can hang your towel (bring your own towel tho). Hibernia was very easy to find, too. Just look for the blue painted building among all the beige ones. There's a mini market beside it, too. Bus stops are nearby, especially Antik. The nearby bay's lovely. They also have a print, photocopy and scan service at Hibernia for 20cents per page in case you need it. This is my first dorm experience and loved the fact that I got to meet new people from all different parts of the world by staying here. Love the experience!

CONS: Wifi was available only at the ground and 6th floor. Breakfast served was repetitive but it was good. No socket in the bathroom area (dorm) for hair dryer.

TIPS: Bring your own hair dryer if you need one. Bring your own towels. I came from Italy and they have a different type of socket in Malta, so check it out online and bring adapters with you so you wouldn't have to buy one.

Great accommodation and experience

Many bad reviews are from 2014/15 and I must say it's much better than they say it was back then.
We got a studio for two with a kitchenette (sink, stove, microwave and fridge), private bathroom and a balcony and we payed only 225€ for 4 nights (so 112,50€/person) which is a great price.
The hotel is only 5 minutes from a pretty busy bus stop which is also on the shore so the beach is right there aswell. But it is far away enough that it is peaceful and quiet at night and even over the day. There is also a grocery store next door with fresh fruits, vegetables, snacks and so on.
I did see some ants but honestly ants are in pretty much every house over the summer so I wouldn't make a bit deal out of 4 ants.
They don't clean your room while you're staying there and you do have to take out your garbage which some people might consider as a problem but it is a hostel not a high-end hotel.
Some other quirks are that the ceiling fan is blowing way too strongly, toilet seat looked like it was left on the sun for a while so a bit started to melt I guess and they just tried to clean it off which resulted in a sticky mess, mattresses are too small for the bed frames and there is no floor drain outside the shower cabin which drains the water pretty slowly so you might make a small puddle when you shower.
The receptionist was always very polite and helpfull and the lady in the breakfast area was also polite and quick to refill the food.
Overall I think the hostel is pretty nice and the rooms are good as well so I would be staying here again since you can't really get much cheaper for a studio for two here in Sliema. 

Improved from past years

You see a lot of negative reviews about this place, but that's because people expect to get 5 star hotel treatment at a cheap hostel. Location wise it doesn't get better than this less than 5 min away from the shore and a bus stop where essentially buses that go to every direction you need stop you're also close to great restaurants and there's a small shop with everything you need right next door. The rooms aren't bad we got a salon (kitchenette, bathroom and 2 single beds) and there weren't any mayor problems with the room itself. There were a couple of minor issues, like the mattress being to small for the bed so you can't put the beds together, there also wasn't a drain outside of the shower cabin so there was a small puddle of water every time you showered. The staff were all very friendly and polite especially the front desk manager. We had an early flight and even though the front desk wasn't open there was a departure box where you left your card and key so you don't have to worry about missing your flight. The breakfast was really good and you had a lot to choose from, also there was never any shortage of food since a kind lady is constantly present and refills everything as it runs out. All in all you get value for your money here even if there are a couple of quirks it is well worth it considering the money you pay.

Great location and a good room for a very cheap price

I enjoyed staying here.There are a few fee computers in the lobby and unlimited WiFi on the ground and top floor.There are plenty of nice places around and a shop right next door.The check in is very efficient 

Great stay 

The location is great, amenities are fine. Really cheap stay in high-end area. Stuff super friendly! Close to shops, central buses, Paceville and nightlife can be reached within walking distance. 

Still able to have a swim in November because seafront is so close!!!!
