My husband and I went to Maldives for the second time around. Ahmed was very kind and professional from picking us up from the port and sticking to our agreed/negotiated rates for our entire stay including activities. He even offered a free transport to Kandooma (where we stayed after), big discount for our souvenirs and lesser scuba diving rate. Our second trip to Maldives was way more adventurous, less expensive and awesome because we had a great deal with Ahmed. He is really a man of his words. Also, we already miss Shafik (the cook) and please tip him because he deserves it even if he doesn't expect anything from you. If you have questions about the rates, just shoot me a message so that you will know how to negotiate/ what to expect there with Ahmed if you like.

Great stay

Tge staff in Ifja Inn (M. Shafik), the cheff and everyone are so so friendly and well mannered! 

We had a great stay me and my wife with a special surprise in our room on arrival. The food (Specially BBQ) was decent. 

Only problem was tab water. It's difficult to stand the smell sometimes when taking a shower :( but i guess this is a common issue in the whole island.

Overall really great. So thanks alot!

Great local island Guesthouse

we stayed here as part of our encounter maldives tour. The place is clean and the staff are very friendly and you are made to feel part of the island as everyone always says hello. Do have to barter hard for items that are more expensive than other places for the same items. The wifi is very intermittent. The rooms are adequate although we found the bed extremely hard. There were some maintenance issues that need to be addressed,ie portable toilet seat, a/c dripping water  door hanging by one hinge. The food was good but read menu properly to note the extras  like rice and salad as we left it up to chef's choice for maldivian curry and incurred the extra dishes.  Good place to stay for a few days to visit picnic island and sand bar and good snorkelling also near manta ray point.

Guesthouse

This six-month-old hotel (as of Sept. 2013) is clean and pleasant. The two Bangladeshi staff -- Babu and Mohammed -- were extremely attentive and did an incredible job with the meals. 

Not much to do on the island if the waves are small (there are a couple surf breaks), though visitors will get a lot of reading done.

The real problem for me was the crude bait-and-switch that occurred when the time came to pay the bill. The deal made upon checking in was not honored, and a bill with various add-ons was presented. This was done in a thuggish, gangsterish manner. 

Expect to be extorted when it's time to pay the bill

During my short stay here I definitely felt the family vibe that the staff give off. I was well looked after in terms of food and trips - snorkelling was exceptional, hedika, a cultural evening/BBQ and some shopping. 

The accomodation is basic, but workable. During my stay the wifi only worked the once but that wasn'ta massive deal as I was mostly out.
