What an amazing little gem. I travelled here with my friend and we could not fault it, Big spacious room, only a little walk to the beach with cafes on the way to grab breakfast. the hospitality was just superb, collected and dropped off at the airport, shown around the night market - mosquito repellent and all. HIGHLY recommended - If i return to Pantai Cenang for sure I will stay here again

The chalet is very quaint. Our room was spacious and clean. The staff was very friendly.  It is a 10 minute walk to the beach and restaurants along a very narrow busy road.  Easy to get a taxi 10RM if you don't want to walk.  The first morning I was awaken by the roosters and traffic 6:30am The second morning I slept till 11:00 and never heard a thing must of been tired from all the walking.

Weekend getaway 

Came to Langkawi with friends, and our friends decided on The Bohok. It is definitely not my kind of accommodation, but for just 2 nights - it was ok-ok. 

It is very near to Pantai Cenang, within walking distance. But we rented a car to escape from the heat and car rentals on the island are very, very cheap so why not. We did not realise this place was more of a "homestay" concept, and I would say if you're on a budget and you are travelling with friends or family, then this place is ok. The rooms are very large, has a big 2-seater sofa and cushions on the floor for lazying around and a verandah outside. The bathroom is very big too and clean. However, did not like the fact the room felt "unfinished" and was very, very hot despite the aircon and fan being on all the time! The room is not properly ventilated and the ceilings seemed incomplete and was unable to keep the cool air in and keep out the outside noise! Was really hard to sleep because the chalet is very close to the main road and you can hear motorcycles, cars, trucks pass by all night long... But for the price we paid, it was decent enough to stay. However, we would not consider staying here again. Too many little flaws here and there, hence why the room seemed "unfinished". The plus point is there is a really cute cat on the property that greeted us each morning, which was nice. 

No breakfast provided on the property, but there is a Malay shop nearby to grab early morning Malaysian breakfast e.g. nasi lemak.

Average and affordable stay

So we stayed in the Bohok for three nights and I can't help thinking I am missing something. Yes you are 10 mins walk away from the beach, shops and restaurants. Yes you have nice individual chalets which feel original. And yes it is in front of the Thursday night market. But the room was too hot even when we left the AC and fan on all day & that combined with the noise from the road meant that sleeping was difficult. For the cost of the room I expect a reasonable nights sleep, to have a bed sheet (I had to ask for one) & the room advises TV but there really isn't any English speaking channels. So it wasn't a bad stay just not a very restful one, I would say there are better options in the area.
