Foreword: This is a abandoned resort, the only thing which is open is the tower for the view(admission).
But a very unique experience, have look at the derilict swimmingpool or look inside the resort, most is open.

A lovely ghost resort with a fantastic view.

All this Reviews callling D'Coconut Hill on Mount Gunung Raya 'creep', 'hellish' and 'Zombie-Fortress' are highly exaggerating. Maybe travellers from inside Asia are not as distracted from the marvelous location overlooking the sometimes foggy rainforest from ON TOP OF LANGKAWI as we Europeans are. But for some parts, the critics are right - it is lonely up there, you often see no other human for 2-3 days (if you are leaving and returning before and after 8am/8pm resp., there is no reception and only a side-door is open over night). Also there is no WLAN and don't ask for a breakfast, this throws them in despair and needs an hour...  And yes, it's 21 years old and needs renovation, BUT the rooms (ask for E4) were comfortable, warm water is there, a fridge is there. And there are gorgeous sunrises and sundowns and 1m large yellow birds (like Tukan) look into your balcony and 20cm large butterlies say hello - so for US it was a great and exotic place. After one day we had or wine and beer-cans (go to Duty Ree Shops for alcohol) and Cokes stored and didn't miss anything. In summary, no real luxury up there on the hilltop (15min to go up by car on road 278 from road 112) but an extraordinary place to remember!

"Yes, it needs some rework - but it's a great location !"

I did not stay at the hotel but it sure gave me the creeps. I went up with the intention of catching the view of the sunset from the viewing tower and was shocked by the sight of the place. The place was leaking all over (yes it was also leaking in the reception area). Saw 2 staff that wasn't at all interested in my group's presence. We even had to approach them to asked if there was any food at the resort (as I had read that there were a couple of restaurants at the resort) and they nonchalantly replied that there wasn't any and when I enquire about the the drink at the top (which I had read that the resort offers complimentary Chinese Tea which is included in the entry charge at the tower), the staff just replied that the place was under doing renovation works even though we didn't see and sign of any renovation works going around.. So we decided to explore the place ourselves and to our horror the place was really run down and would had easily be the perfect filming location for a horror movie. I didn't even see anyone else beside my group for the 30 minutes that we were there. I would give it a 0 star rating but that was not possible because of a minimum of 1 star rating..

A Hotel in Need of Some Serious Renovation Works

This "hotel" has the distinct feel of being not of this world. I say this both literally (it is physically placed atop a tall mountain), and figuratively (its appearance lends a disturbing glimpse into a hellish otherworld). Upon approaching the crumbling, decayed facade the first thing you will notice is the eerie desolation of this place. There is no sign of life. Indeed this is a place that is devoid of any glimmer of light, happiness or joy. Just when you have acclimatised yourself to your direct environment, you are brutally accosted by the screeching howl of the wind which tears menacingly through the barely upright lookout tower. The sound of this howling wind, akin to a screaming banshee escaped from one of the inner circles of hell, will make even the most hardy traveller uneasy. The shadows cross the building and the ground beneath you, wrapping themselves in a suffocating grip around the buildings, your heart, and your very soul. It is at this point the creatures approach. Stealthily and calm, you barely notice until it is almost too late. You may not see the malevolent animals that stalk this cruel environment, but you will hear their bloodthirsty call as they surround you. Like Cerberus guarding the gates of Hades, these feral beasts do not welcome you. Just before you are overwhelmed with a feeling of utter damnation and dread, you will hopefully regain enough sense and composure to run as fast as you can, lest you be set upon by these wretched mountain wildlings. 

In all seriousness, the place is a creepy dump. The buildings are in utter disrepair and surrounded by filth. As we drove back to our resort we could see a flickering orange flame coming from the mountain summit. Unless this is indeed a portal to Hell, the building was probably on fire and is now ashes. 

If you want a good view of the island take the cable car instead.
