cheap cheap cheap.feeling like home. feeling secured.Super fast internet provided! easy access to most shopping& eatery places. Even this hostel look old ,but nothing bothering us coz its very clean place. and the staff will met ur need anytime ! superb!

I paid 40RM for a double room with air con - the air con did make a loud noise, but it did not bother me. There was a shower room within the bedroom, while the shared toilet was across the hall. The water from the shower was tepid rather than hot (no temperature control), though I did nto mind as it was a tropical climate.  Given a towel on arrival. 

There is a lounge within the reception area that has a dvd player and a few books. I did watch a couple of movies there one evening. This is a small hostel, and quiet while I was there - not disturbed by others.

The reception staff were friendly and helpful, though I would have liked more of an introduction to the facilities available. 

Location was good, shops and eating places nearby, and 10-15 walk into the city centre. 

I would staty there again.

Good value for money

cheapest in town.

Stayed in Saramo hostel twice. First time was 2 years ago and the recent was November 2012. The reason i chose this place is due to its price and location. Cleanliness however is questionable. The bathrooms are old and is just separated from the next room bathroom with just a wooden plank. One can hear the next door occupants talking too. In all, if you dont mind the environment and you are just looking for a cheap place to bunk in there you should be fine here!

Budget stay

We’ve booked the place earlier and it’s actually pretty decent. A queen size bed, with another mattress, they have a pantry, a lounge area (which is also the lobby with TV) for people to hang out. Small room, but it fit 3 of us alright. 

The hostel was slightly pricey at that period, because the whole Kuching’s accomodation was hiked up because of the Rainforest festival, so instead of RM 60 a night (queen size, bathroom attached), it was RM85 a night. So two nights for that would be RM 170/ 3 of us that’s about RM 56 for two nights, leaving it RM 28 a night. We couldn't complain either because the whole of Kuching was fully booked! The hotels there were hiked up to RM 300++ a night because of the festival, it’s insane! 

We stayed just about a few minutes walk from eateries, with shopping malls at least 10-15 minutes walk, and just right behind our area was the Santubong River – those with river cruises. 

Can't complain much, except that the bathroom leaked a few times when we were showering. The placement of the toilet / bathroom was quite odd I must say. 

For moving around, we were blessed that our friend was around to bring us everywhere, but what I realised is that most of the hostels are situated around eateries and shops anyway, so it's better to choose a hostel that is situated just 10 - 15minutes walk from the City Centre. Bus stop is less than 5 minutes walk, but I can't say for this because we didn't use the buses here. 

All in all, maybe if it was cheaper I would come back. If not it's just alright :)

We chose this hostel based on three things: location, price and pictures. I'll admit only the last one was completely false. The place looked much worse than the pictures, but this is not the main issue we had with the hostel.

On arrival the first thing we learned was that Hostelworld had somehow glitched us a booking for two rooms. Through language barrier and possibly deliberate swindling we forfeited our entire deposit (108 ringgit). We had to pay for the entire intended stay, cash up front.

We stayed for three nights of the nine nights we had intended. The heater in the shower didn't work and the sink leaked until eventually fell off the wall, shattering into a million pieces on my foot. During our stay the room wasn't cleaned once. Had it not been for the feces we found smeared on the toilet seat and bed linen, we might've went on thinking they didn't visit the room at all.

When we finally decided to bail on this hostel and demanded a refund for the six nights we wouldn't be staying, the staff seized to speak english. Also a claim was made the manager was sleeping (11am) and couldn't be woken up to deal with disgruntled customers. Luckily we had the assistance of influential locals to scare the english back on their tongues and shift managers out of slumber. Before reimbursing us, they still had the nerve to make us sign a waiver no official complaints would be made. Such a contract is obviously illegal, but I had already filed my complaint with the Sarawak Tourism Board, so I went ahead and vouched I wouldn't do it again. This whole hassle took 2 days of our valuable vacation time, but hopefully the next tourist will be spared the agony.
