King Star Hotel

If you are looking for a decent, inexpensive place to stay (hard to find in KK), this place is for you.  The rooms are clean (though very basic), the beds are comfortable, the showers are hot, and the prices are low. Good air-con, bottled water provided, rooms made-up every day, wi-fi only in the lobby.  Staff was helpful. I stayed for a week.

Best of the "cheap, budget" hotels

I stayed at this hotel for one night as a quick stopover.

The standard double room was ok and came with a double bed with one bedside table, writing desk, separate table, wardrobe area, air conditioning, tv and ensuite bathroom/ wet room. The hotel also provided small bottles of water in the room which was a nice touch after a long day travelling.

Everything about the room was poor to average in terms of its condition and cleanliness.  For example, the curtains were dirty and very tired.  The bedding and towels provided were clean but in poor condition with holes in them.  The tv didn't work - it had a two pin plug but the in room sockets were three pins-doh!  The wifi works in the reception area only although our room (101) did just about connect.

The day female receptionist was friendly and helpful but the night time/ early morning male receptionists were rude, obnoxious and unhelpful; they couldn't even muster one smile between the 2 of them!  I think we were in their way...... Oh no hang on, this is a hotel and we are paying guests!  Perhaps that's why they're on at night time.

The location is the reason why this hotel deserves a 3 rating and not a 2 rating in my opinion.  It is close to the main bus terminal, some shopping centres and decent enough restaurants.  It is a slightly seedy area at nighttime though but it didn't bother us.

So in summary, ok for a night for the price and location, but you could do much better in KK.......

good budget hotel with a friendly staff. located at kampung air near by to philippine market and central point.the receiption will arrange a airport transfer if you need.recomanded for budget travel. i will stay here again if i visit sabah.

good budget hotel situated at the center of KK city. Suits anyone who wants to stay in for the night. good reception, and they were kind enough to look after our bags for an extra day without charging extra

Good clean room for the price, centrally located, not far from the waterfront, major department stores, local resturants and central bus depot.
Staff friendly and helpful, Wifi ok, a little bit seedy on the streets late at night.
No food service available within the hotel.
