I checked this hotel on Booking.com and all look nice.
Actually, I got surprise when I saw it in Penang. The main gate is really small and we almost could not find it. Inside the hotel was a little bit old but it was still lovely with vintage decoration.
A big inconvenience is the elevator could not run and we had to bring the luggage to the 4th floor by our hands. But fortunately, the staffs were reallt nice and helped us a lot (actually there's only one man helped us).
The rooms are small and have no windows but all furnitures inside were great. Cool ac, soft bed and warm shower.
From this hotel, you can move to other highlight points of Penang easily 😉

Good experience

There are bed bugs in the dorm1. I sleep here on February 19 and in the night there was a lot of bugs in my bed. I stayed overnight in the Sim Citystay in February 2019. I noticed right away that there are poison bugs spread throughout the room. In the closet, under the mattress and under the bed. But only then did I know why, my entire bed was full of bed bugs. The bugs are ineffective. I then went straight out of the bedroom and stayed on the floor at the reception. I don't know what it looks like in the other rooms of the house, but 1 on the green floor is contaminated anyway.

We book at room for 6 ppl in bunk bed room with attached bath room tru booking. com rm250 seems very expensive compared to other hostel or bugdet hotel n the ceiling is low when u sleeping on the top bed u can't even sit down cos u will bang your head against the ceilingl. First time in malaysia we stay in a back packer hostel no towel have to bring your own towel. No TV no refrigerator just a basic room even the standard room for 2 person cos rm130++ 😱 old hostel n furniture out dated n room quite clean but shared bathroom n toilet not so clean n everything need refurrnish for such an expensive stay. . Will never stay here again. Owner quite friendly.

Vacation in Penang 

We booked our accommodation really late for Penang and this was one of the places we could find in our budget. Unfortunately it's the worst place we've stayed in Asia (and we've been travelling for 3 months). The bed is uncomfortable, not rock hard but not good. The bathroom was fine but our bathmat was never changed and the water smelt bad. The free water tasted disgusting so we didn't think it was filtered. The rooms are smoke free but this doesnt matter when the smoking area is right outside the rooms so if you are a non-smoker don't book - it'll stink of smoke. Wifi is the worst we've had in Asia, so we bought sim cards. But there is no reception its basically a dead zone. So we couldn't even use our data. You'd have to walk outside to book a grab. The staff were very friendly though and location good. We wouldn't recommend.

Fine for a night, dont stay any longer

This hostel really wasn’t great unfortunately. 
Pros: location, walking distance to ferry and everything else in Georgetown. 
Free tea and coffee. 
Cons: Wifi was useless. 
Bathroom wasn’t clean and the shower head was directly above the toilet seat!! 
The room smelt like paint and the bright green breeze blocks were not inviting at all. 
The bed was really creaky and so loud, it was so hard to sleep.

We stayed for 2 nights then moved to a much nicer hostel on love lane as we barely slept at Sim citystay. 

Wouldn’t stay again!

Positives: free tea and coffee and clean room.

Negatives: As you can see this is quite lengthy but all of the below impacted on our stay in negative ways. We booked the Superior twin room, however I really do not know what was superior about the room. There was no tv, no fridge, no kettle and no storage. This room was very expensive in comparison to other rooms that offer the same (lack of) facilities and therefore it was not value for money. The location is not the best either, so be prepared to walk for at least 30 mins to the centre or get Ubers. Our room was not made up during our stay. Our aircon also kept going off and we realised that every time our neighbour turned there's off/on, it would also turn ours off. The aircon is also freezing cold, even on a higher setting and the fan is very noisy. Due to this it was either a case of being kept awake by sheer cold or heat, or be kept awake by the fan which sounded like the room was about to take off into space. For our 2nd night I requested extra pillows as we had had an awful nights sleep the previous night, due to them being very soft and therefore flat. The owner looked at me, then looked up in thought for quite a while, as though deciding whether he would permit this or not. He did say yes although this came across quite reluctant. This is when cracks in the owners customer service began to show. The 2nd night when we went to bed there was lots of noise coming from downstairs. Also, please note that there is absolutely zero soundproofing in the rooms...you hear EVERYTHING! Now just to put this in perspective..we were on the top floor. I went to reception on the ground floor at 11:40pm (not too late but late enough when we were still exhausted from extensive travelling the day before and lack of sleep our first night here). As I went into reception there were a LOT of locals sat in a circle chatting shouting and screaming (We heard this from 4 floors up...8 flights of stairs). I said to the owner "It's too noisy we are struggling to sleep." He raised his eyebrows, looked at the clock, looked back at me, raised his eyebrows and hands and shook his head implying "yes, and?" I was outraged! I said, "I thought you had a low noise policy after 11pm?" He replied, "no 12" and smiled very sarcastically. What a vile man. He seemed to only be concerned with the welfare of local people and therefore we suffered as a consequence. If you value your sleep, welfare and sanity, avoid this hotel at ALL costs. We have found a much cheaper superior room right in the centre with a tv etc and the staff are lovely!

avoid, avoid, AVOID!

Me and my bf stayed here for 3 nights whilst in George Town. It is a short walk to the center of Georgetown! Really easy to get around. 2 mins up the road is the CF hawker which has delicious food. Rooms are small but if your a backpacker it's all you need. The place is super clean and feels safe! Thank you to the receptionist that helped my bf when he walked into a street sign and split his head, your medical kit was super handy! 
Great stay I would recommend! 

Really lovely stay

The hostel is in a very convenient place to visit in Penang. It is not easy to find because the sign is not very visible. The rooms are very clean and have air conditioning and ventilators. The staff are very kind and provide all the information you need.
