Hotel Tengkera

I had a pleasant 2 night stay at this hotel which is located at Jalan Tengkera. It's about slightly less than 10 minutes walk to Jonker Street which is great for those who wants to spend more time there. There is also a Hainanese restaurant beside the hotel that opens at night but I didn't get to try it. Further down the road is the famous Putu Piring Tengkera, maybe a 5-8 minutes walk or so. Opposite the hotel is also a food court and they have a stall there that sells really good satay!! For those who are driving from out of town, they have a large parking space beside the hotel. Hotel Tengkera is one of those old houses converted into hotels so don't expect a spanking new building. I stayed in a triple room. The room and toilet was clean which was very important to me. Mattresses were firm, aircond was good, shower had good pressure and basic necessities like towels, shampoo and shower gel were provided. I think you can also borrow things like hairdryer and adapter from the front desk. Though it is located at the main street, rooms are far inside so you can avoid the sound of traffic. There is no water kettle in the room but you can get water from the common area outside. There is also a tv in my room but with just basic channels. The owner and staff were friendly. One thing thought, the wifi is not very stable. Overall, it is good for a short stay if you are on a budget.
