Warisan Eco Lodge

I always stayed in Warisan whenever I went to Malacca. I love Jonker, but some hotels can be really expensive. Especially the heritage style like this.  Love everything about it from the first moment I step into it. It looks like an old Chinese house. Great experience. I especially love the double room on the first floor that is not facing the street. It has terrace where you can sit and enjoy your tea. The room is clean. The air-cond is clean. The shower is good. Highly recommended! Oh,  and the staff is super friendly too! 

While it is not the most chic guesthouse available, it is a spacious old mansion. Location wise is top notch near to jonker. Facilities might be old but still working. Wifi is abit weak in double room towards the middle of the building.

Best place to stay in Jonker

Easily Acessible

The accommodation is really, really basic. We’ve seen the staff only twice. To give us the key and when I tried to find someone by calling for help. They couldn’t really help us because their English was poor. She didn’t know where we could rent a bike or scooter. She’d send us to Jonkerstreet. My guess that’s the answer to every question.. 

The room was not clean at all, found an package of cigarettes under the bed, the roof was leaking, the AC was leaking, the house is very noisy and there was dust everywhere. When under the shower you feel cold drops of the ceiling falling down on you. During our stay there was a lot of rain at night and this was really loud on the roof and besides that pieces of the wall got stuck on our backpack because there was water poring through. I don’t recommend this stay if you’re keen of hygiene, dry rooms and quiet. 

The accommodation has a great location so because of this the price is convenient but very low, so you shouldn’t expect anything besides a bed and a shower. 

Expect what you pay for 

Guesthouse has a really nice location just a minute away from Jonker street. Everything else is in bad shape, whole place is in desperate need for simple general maintenance. 
Noise is extreme as walls are paper thin and if your room has neighbors when they walk, wooden floor makes your bed jump.
With so many choices in Melaka I'm sure you can find better.

Poor place

Booked this place b/c of the mostly good reviews and the price. Our arrival and check-in process had lots of room for improvement. Imagine... the staff asking you how much you booked the room for, shouldn't you have that information?!? The man in charge, Muthu, said that he was giving us a "really good room"... I'd hate to see a normal room after our experience. When we were shown our room (double ensuite), we were welcomed by a whole entourage of... mosquitoes and I quickly received 4 love bites from them... thanks. After a day of traveling, I needed the toilet, the bathroom floor was all wet (and stayed wet because of the constant shower and toilet leak) but the toilet seat was literally DIRTY (like someone was standing on it with their dirty shoes), I had to clean it and dry it first before using. There's no bath mat, which makes for a slippery time. And to top it all off, there were at least a couple daddy long legs at both corners of the bed near our heads (and seems like they released their babies recently, i.e., tiny spiders in lots of corners and crevices, ugh).

On a positive note, we asked the guy in charge for help, and he came and swept up the unwelcome guests, gave us a makeshift bath mat (which was really stained and grubby-looking but worked), a second towel (since only one was provided), two small soap bars (since none were provided), and an extra roll of toilet paper (since the one provided started off almost gone). Should really think about having a checklist of some sort so each guest and room is properly prepared.

Sleeping-wise, it was loud and the door didn't help. Our good earplugs helped a bit. The aircon worked well. Another reviewer mentioned mosquito nets but our room didn't have any. I made sure to kill as many mosquitoes as I could and then rub on on repellant.

This place is totally understaffed and lacking cleaners (was told that there are no cleaners, just them changing out the sheets and taking out the garbage). Never anyone at the front desk, you're supposed to call the guy in charge's number if you needed him (given that you have a sim card, which we didn't). If not the worst place we stayed at, would make it to the top 5. The only two good points were the location (very close to everything, especially Jonker Street) and the price (paid $14 per night for ensuite).
