We just returned from our wonderful trip to Madagascar and don’t want to miss the opportunity to share our experience awe had at the most memorable lodge of the entire trip: Coco Komba.

This lodge was our home for 4 nights but if we could we would have stayed forever. This place is just amazing. The lodges are isolated and very quite, it is super clean and the accommodation is fantastic. There is hot water in the shower and electricity all day long. We left our front door with sea view open for the entire time, at day and night, even when we left the room. This allowed us a view to the ocean from our bed and we fell asleep with the soft noises of the sea and the nature. This was fantastic! 

I read that some people complained about mosquitoes before...1st: There are perfect mosquito nets so there was no problem at all with mosquitoes while sleeping. 2nd: Welcome to Madagascar...for sure there are mosquitoes in the nature. Maybe those people should stay at home when complaining about mosquitoes in such a country...

What made our stay so special and unique are the owners, Patrick and Naik.

The food and drinks were fabulous-definitely the best in our entire trip. Everything is fresh, self made and even organic and the staff knows exactly how to treat the ingredients to prepare excellent dishes. If I could I would give Naik and the team at least one star Michelin for this cuisine. Next time we’ll arrange a cooking course with Naik, that’s for sure! 

When we arrived we had very serious health issues from our trip before. Patrick immediately noticed that we were doing well and he gave us medicine that worked-within 24 hours we were fit and the time at Coco Komba was like a recovery program for us.

We booked two trips with Patrick and the team-snorkelling with whale sharks and snorkelling at a reef, with lots of fish and turtles. Both trips were fantastic and worth every penny we spent. There was a woman in our lodge complaining about the “high” prizes in her opinion. She was comparing with other tour operators who do those tours with big boats and large groups of people. Sorry, but this is another story and it’s unfair to compare. With Patrick you have individual tours (once we were only the two of us, another time we were 6) and this offers a completely different experience.

Bienvenue au paradis

We spent six nights in this gorgeous Eco Lodge. It is located on a small island just off the coast of Northern Madagascar. The french owners are an absolute delight and work hard to ensure you have a very restful vacation. The rooms are tastefully decorated, light and airy, and the en suite bathroom very well done. The meals provided onsite are gourmet quality (everything is fresh and made by hand, including the bread)! We used Coca Komba as a base to dive (they help to arrange). The diving is also world class. Book your stay here ASAP! Thank you Coca Komba for our holiday!

Beautiful escape in paradise

Our Madagascar trip ended with a relaxing week at Coco Komba. I must say this is the perfect place for this! What a beautiful lodge and breathtaking environment! Rooms are very clean and beautifully furnished. The food was delicious during the entire stay. Thank you very much to the staff and management for making our stay unforgettable! 
One thing the management fully understands is: ‘Beauty lies in the details’.

Naik and Patrick have created a beautiful eco-lodge, hidden off the main Island of Nosy Be. We had an amazing stay with them for 6 nights and were spoilt. The food was always outstanding; freshly prepared and super tasty. The room was beautifully decorated with a large bed and a comfortable ensuite bathroom. 

There was a very good selection of excursions and we enjoyed hiking through the island and the tropical forest, as well as snorkelling and swimming with sea turtles. Naik, Patrick and their staff took care of every detail, from organising our transport to providing us with kayaks. 

Staying at Coco Komba felt like being at home, with a more exotic and luxurious touch.

Paradise (and even better)

This is a wonderful relatively small French-run lodge.  
Easy access from the mainland (20 mins). 
The bungalows are very comfortable.  
The food is excellent - varied menu, great flavours.   
The staff are very friendly - the owners are around to assist with any enquires.  
Private beach with hammocks and loungers.  Kayaks and paddle boards. 
Trips available including swimming with turtles. 
Highly recommended.

Upon arrival we were greeted by two lovely dogs and the two owners. They were very nice but spoke very little English which made communication a bit difficult. The bungalow was clean and comfortable. The hotel was right by the ocean and they had a private beach. The beach was ok but there was a large amount of seaweed which made it difficult to swim there. There were also a lot of rocks that were very sharp in some places. The food was exquisite and the staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a sort of family atmosphere. There is WiFi but it is very slow and only in the reception and dining area. It was surrounded by nature and wildlife and everyday lemurs passed though for a snack of bananas. 
Overall we had a very good experience and would definitely return and recommend.

Cozy bungalow by the sea

This little 5-bungalow resort owned and operated by a French couple for the last decade and a half has a cozy, intimate feel because it's small and you can tell that the owners truly care about what they're doing and ensuring their guests are happy and comfortable.  First place we've ever been where the hosts proposed to seat everyone at a communal table for meals, and getting to know the other guests made for a wonderful vacation.  They are extensively involved with the food preparation and work with guests to ensure meals are something suitable for guests' food preferences.

We've been living in Madagascar (and traveling extensively) in Madagascar for nearly three years and this is among the top in terms of the hospitality we've received.  Not a huge beach but plenty big for the clientele with beach chairs, a couple of kayaks and a couple of paddle boards free for use.  Narrow water access between the rocks but once you're out there, nothing but coral and fishes.  Passing by boats pass a bit close at high tide but you can borrow floating orange buoys for safety.  Extensive hiking trails (with guide) available.  

Rooms are spacious, not right on the beach but you can see (and hear) the ocean from your room.  Comfortable beds and hot water and electricity available (solar) 24/7.  Cell signal is weak but wi-fi available.  Nice to have a vacation without the phone for a bit however ;-)

Owner took us to see whale sharks during the season (November) and we must have seen and swum with a good two dozen of them - he has a keen sense of knowing how to find these amazing animals for a truly unique experience.  The next day we went with a group and a hired guide and only saw a few.  Could have been luck or the tides but we really appreciated the opportunity to see these huge animals.

Would stay here again rather than one of the more commercial (overpriced) resorts anyday.

Coziest Little Resort in Nosy Be

we had 10 days in nosy be area and after looking for a long time we decided to go to coco komba which was another island ( very near ) but everything there looked better : the sea, the place and so on. we were not wrong. we were picked up from the airport and after 45 minutes by sea we arrived to a magical place. Naik & Patrick took the best care of us and it felt like home. naik is responsible for the cooking and we must say she is doing a great job ( and we love to eat good food ) everything was fresh and delicious. she also takes care of the animals and the lamure family.
patrick is responsible of all the rest and the best sailing was with him as we managed to swim with the whale shark and see the whales jumping.
the room was just what we needed with a great sea view.
it was perfect and we hope to come back asap.
