A very average gues house with just very badic and cheap, worn facilities. The worst is that it is not clean, which makes a stay very uncomfortable. Old, worn carpet in the room, definitely not clean. Very dirty shower and bathroom in general. We were also unlucky with a receptionist who has no idea what it means to work in the hospitality! Avoid this place!

Overall, if not the odd smell in the room (someone else mentioned that it's a cat smell, maybe) - this is fairly good hotel in pretty historical building in extremely good location.
Nice quiet street close to sea and water park, few good restaurants nearby, and really good breakfast

Main selling point is Location - But, beware of smell in the room

Hotel or rather inn  is established in old wooden house (1901 year built) which adds it's charm and certain qualities  to the stay. if you are after trendy and modern crisp and sleek establishments or chain hotels, this place certainly not for you, otherwise give it a try  maybe you like it. Inn is run by family and has rustic vibe in it. It may have some chaotic and old-fashioned  quirks, yes  inn looks rather   old and  smells funny  like and old grandma's house in common area, but room - at least the one we stayed at clean and odorless,  room itself was ok, maybe planning a bit odd, but again, this is reconstructed old villa from long ago so it tough to cram modern facilities in it without  issues.
Location on the other hand is almost perfect especially for family with smaller children, inn is just  hundred meters from big playground for the kid's, not far from the beach as well and open air museum.
Breakfast was simple but very tasty, special compliments to the pancakes or maybe I should call them crepes,  they were very delicious so I couldn't help myself and agreed for  second helpings  when  offered by the owner of the establishments.
Minor drawback is a bit tight parking space in the back yard, especially when inn is full as I understand, so if you arriving by car be aware of that.
As the bottom line, nice place to stay if you not too picky about hotel style to be as modern as it gets and aware that century old  wooden house  will have it's own character and traits which cannot be eliminated without destroying it and rebuilding from a scratch, which obviously will not be same old house anymore.

Pleasant place to stay in Ventspils

We are a family of five and ordered a room for the family. I still don't know how they managed to squeeze so many beds in such a small space. The room felt claustrophobic and very unpleasant. The bathroom was also incredibly small and we needed to put a towel over the mat as it was so dirty you would have dirtied you feet after showering. The only redeeming features was the pleasantness so the owners, although we were locked out before 11 for which they were sorry. The other good thing was the breakfast that was enjoyable. I would certainly recommend visiting Ventspils but avoid this hotel.

Disappointing uncomfortable stay

If you want to feel like at the grandma choose Portoss. This is wooden house not far form the sea with very attentive owners. They offer good breakfast, free parking in the closed yard and the Wi-Fi. There could be some problems with the Wi-Fi if your room will be in the corner of the house (far from the rooter).

Few days near the Baltic sea

This guest house, former German villa and even clinic, is in a very good location in quiet street in between beach and city center. Though it has not so much rooms and they are far from luxury, house keepers (family) provided with all the amenities from fridge to electric kettle. Breakfast is really home-made (pancakes!). And during the meal house lady can tell you all the history of this house, which is a history of Latvia too. So I prefer this not convenient hotel instead of chain one with all the well-known routine.
